I bought a pair of Yamaha HS8 speakers a week ago and I have to say they are awesome. I have a pair of Dynaudio BM5 passive for years but they always lacked bass due to the having only a 5 inch woofer… But the Yamahas have plenty of bass no need for a sub and go very low and clear and most importantly flat. I can’t think of better monitors for the money.
The Yamaha HS-series is very good for the money IMO too.
HS8 has TONS of bass, no need for a subwoofer. Maybe a bit too much bass actually, especially for small-ish untreated rooms. If I had a room like that, I think I’d rather go with the smaller HS’s.
