Would love to hear a recording of thisā¦
Still a work in progress for sureā¦
Using my audio interface (Focusrite Saffire Pro 40) as a mixer (would like a stand alone mixer eventually for computer-less performance).
MIDI out from the Digitakt into my DSI OB6 which has MIDI thru to the Waldorf Pulse 2 and that in turn goes into my Moog Mother 32.
Using my Alesis VI61 into my audio interface, I can output MIDI on channel 14 from that into the Digitakt. This allows for me to easily audition and record sequences in the Digitaktās MIDI tracks (the keyboard controls whatever track is currently selected).
Typically Iāll have my OB6 on MIDI A, Pulse 2 on MIDI B, and Mother 32 on MIDI C. Hoping Elektron gives us the ability to save our MIDI settings so it will be easier to set these up for different songs and patterns.
Still waiting on my Digitakt stand I ordered from Fraction Industries
All you need is love
Very nice set up!
Did you have any issues when entering midi notes or sequencing your synths?
I really want to buy the DTā¦ but the fact that some people is having āfreezeā issues is pulling me back to do it.
Yes I am having freezing issues periodically. Itās not a show-stopper but very annoying and would be terrible if I was performing live. Iād recommend holding off to see if they fix it in the next update. Iām still having a great time with it, but the MIDI freeze issue is serious and must be fixed before I can recommend others buy it (at least if youāre going to use MIDI).
Thanks for your feedback on this ā¦ yes I will wait until itās totally Fixed.
Iām planning to use it a lot for sequencing external gear and play live.
Wellā¦ Turdsā¦ set got cancelled due to Hurricane Harveyā¢
Next time!
I feel your pain!
My favorite use so far for my DT has actually been for doing some video game SFX sound design!
I have the outputs patched into a UFX+ and then I take two outs from the sound card into the inputs on the DT.
Now I can send anything from any software in my computer or from any piece of gear hooked up to my computer to my DT-bus and sample it.
Then I hit record in Cubase and start messing around with the sound on the DT. Managed to knock out a lot of good stuff really quickly!
I donāt know if this is something that people do but for me it was an eye-opener.
Usually when I sound design I just stack and drag around stuff directly in the timeline (which is how most people I know do it as well) but using a sampler like this was just so quick and so much fun.
I guess using a sampler like this should have been obvious considering how many bleep and bloop-knob twiddling sessions Iāve recorded from synths but apparently not haha.
For more complex and/or precise sounds I will probably still have to use a DAW normally but for more simple stuffā¦ this could keep being really good. Looking forward to exploring this more!
One thing Iām going to try out for doing layered sound designs is to set all the tracks to trigger on MIDI channel 1 and then just start populating the audio tracks with sounds and see where that goes. Control all should come in really handy for something like this!
Anyone else have any experience with doing stuff similar to this?
Just sampling for right now. I want to pick up a Kenton Midi USB host eventually to sync it up though.
Just got a Kenton USB midi host to sequence scene changes on a A&H QU16 from DT with PC plocks. Itās working out great.
My new setup up with digitaktā¦ Microgranny2, system 1m and the digitakt itself. https://www.instagram.com/p/BYU4Fbgjaxl/
I like to keep my set up simple ish with 3 pieces of gear give or take. I use my other gear to pull samples from. Really really digging the simplicity and work flow. Plus now I can make claims to owning a green trinity
what a nice clean minimal set upā¦ i love it
Everything is nice and clean without cablesā¦
it looks great - yes
My current gear list is:
Digitakt
Volca Keys
Monologue
Analog Four
Analog Heat
Im still getting to know the DT when Iām not busy with work so I havnt had a chance to hook them all up together. Iām also looking for that perfect little mixer (that doesnt take up too much space) so I can mix everything into the Analog Heat. If it had a pre fader aux send to get into the DT id be thrilled. Would also reeeally love to throw an OT MK2 into the setup as well. I kick around the idea of an Organelle and/or some Dreadbox stuffā¦ and then thereās that new Roland boutique 808 and SH01Aā¦ oh the GAS! Every time I think minimal I get the GAS and then I want to get more synths! Itās killing me!
Haha, I feel you!
