I just finished my first actually productive session with it since OB first came out! It’s by no means bullet-proof but definitely useable. Finally. Rather than tweaking settings and giving up after an hour, I finally spent some time creating patterns and sounds using OB in Logic!
Just remember to disable the Elektron as MIDI Sync destination in Logic. For good measure, I’ve also disabled Plug-In latency compensation. Not sure it makes a difference but it feels like Logic is interfering less with OB’s timing this way?
Touch mode to record automation works fairly well so you can actually twist the knobs on your machine or move the parameters in OB’s UI (rather than finding them in Logic’s automation menu) and then fine-tune whatever you’ve recorded afterwards.
To print audio, I change the output of the Software Instrument track to a Bus which I then use as the input for a new Audio Track.
The smallest (64) buffer is disabled for me at this point but all the sync modes (even position) work well enough with the buffer set to 128. Sometimes you have to press stop, jump to a straight position in Logic and press play again for the RYTM to jump where it should be but compared to the headaches of the last versions, this is a major improvement and actually enjoyable to work with.
I’m really looking forward to future versions and creating stuff with OB now.
