1010music Bluebox

Studio: tascam model. (more options, better haptics)
Live: bluebox. (smaller footprint)

At least that’s how I see it.

Which also means that I’m not buying the bluebox until playing live for money is possible again.

My set of these cables just arrived - they are very nice, and seem to be good value. Thanks for the suggestion.

V. Curious to see how far one can go with midi for stuff that needs to be adjusted live. I’ve got a little Faderfox SC4 coming with mine that will probably live connected to it, hopefully to help without adding too much bulk.

Yeah, I mean, the interface is the primary divider, together with the recording part, I’d say.

For me, the tactile experience of working an instrument is very important. It’s not just vanity, it’s workflow and it takes you to places other interfaces don’t.

Very far. You can map a lot of the Bluebox params to midi controllers. That Faderfox will get busy quickly.

The just mentioned MIDI mapping is demonstrated in a YouTube review and allows for hands on control with fader controllers. It looks awesome and easy to set up. For me, the MIDI tempo sync is crucial.

Yeah, got word mine is shipping to Aus now, which means I should see it at some time in 2022.

Ouch! Even though mine says it will arrive monday and I will be home all day, Canada Post always finds a way to “miss”. Realistically, probably tuesday

Anybody got suggestions on cables? Apparently monoprice discontinued their 3.5 stereo to dula mono adapter

I got these. They looked like they’d be a decent fit on the Bluebox side. I’ve never used this brand before, so we’ll see.

Edit: The cables listed below are all 3.5mm TRS > dual 1/4" TS. But their sleeves may be too wide for the narrow-spacing between the BlueBox’s 3.5 TRS jacks.

I’ve used these (except for the Mogami) and all but the plastic-sleeved Hosa CMPs have held up fairly well. The Hosa Rean HMPs are better, and are repairable (metal sleeves screw off).
Roland RCC-5-3528 5’ $18
Hosa Rean HMP-006Y 6’ $14
Tisino 6’ $15
Hosa CMP-159 10’ $10
Mogami makes one but it’s $70

I have a bunch of the Tisino .25” insert cables, and they’re quite nice. However, I wasn’t sure if the 3.5mm might be a bit tight on the Bluebox.

Do you think that the spacing between the 3.5mm jacks on the BlueBox is too small for cables with wider sleeves? Hmmm, I didn’t think of that. The LinkinPerk cable that you linked above does have a small sleeve.

There’s this short Y-cable, but its sleeve may be too large:

Also, if anyone can find a 3.5mm TRS snake or mini-patchbay, please post a link. Hosa makes a CMS-1XX 3.5mm TRS > 1/4" TRS cable, so maybe a small companion patchbay/box would be easier to deal with. I’m worried about 8x 3.5mm cables breaking the BlueBox’s jacks/PCB.

I’m actually not sure this is the case. Mine arrives this week. I was just guessing that it could be a bit tight back there just due to the size of the device.

Thanks. Hmmm, yeah the BlueBox’s 3.5mm jack spacing looks tighter than the Beatstep Pro’s. I used 2 of those Hosa Y-cables with the BSP’s Clock I/O jacks, and remember it being very tight.

Cables with larger sleeves won’t work. It’ll be too tight. Trust me, I’ve tried. On both the Bluebox and Blackbox.
