1010music Bluebox

In short, has anyone tried using TouchOSC for Ipad with their Bluebox?

Pulled the trigger the other day and I’m hopefully getting my Bluebox later this week. At first I was thinking about getting the Novation Launchcontrol for it, but decided to maybe buy it later when I’m a bit more familiar with it. But then I also thought about TouchOSC and my Ipad, that I’m planning to use with my Disting, and that TouchOSC would probably work pretty well with the Bluebox.

And yet I’m here wanting just that feature for my Digitakt.

I like the look of this one but when you transfer recordings to computer, do they sit on grid perfectly, or is there any trimming of the start of the files to be done?

Bang on! It’s just a cracking little device and did super service the other day throughout a drunken weekend of jamming with a few mates (every input used in stereo or mono). Everything recorded, everthing lines up perfectly … loads of stuff we didn’t have any recollection of   :grimacing:

No trimming whatsoever as long as you sync everything up :sunglasses:

Bluebox is going to test early adopters as to whether 1010 sees it as a multitrack recorder or a mixer that happens to record. I hope it is the former as I’d love to see it become an OP-1 tape on steroids.
The age old advice is buy it for the functions it currently offers, which is more in the mixer camp as the multitrack recorder features are limited.

I hear you (sorry, my managers say that and I can’t abide it!)…good point, but as it stands it’s working really well for us as a tiny little multi-track recorder and mixer with a smattering of nice FX for jamming.
No regrets … especially with what sucessive OS upgrades may bring.

Nice, got to love the mystery bonus beats!!

That’s great to know sounds like the hassle free way of multitracking jams. Hmmmm super tempted.

Good news, so clocking and transport from the bluebox or can it be from a digitakt etc.

Tape style controls would be amazing but I’d just be super happy with a way to quickly get parts down then edit/loop etc in a DAW

Your call…I now trigger from BB most of the time but you can choose.

Ah ok sweet, and its solid either way. Ah man I might replace my octatrack with this and a toraiz squid I’m thinking. And audio quality/headroom etc is all good?

It is rock solid, no crashes or any of the shit, and the audio sounds excellent, really good straight on to the hifi before a proper computer gets near it.

I’ve only done it from the BB but I understand you can use something else to clock it :man_shrugging:

Thanks all, I think I’m sold!!

Seeing as you’re already on board, I guess I don’t need to add here that the recording and output quality really is great. The multi-tracking part is a fantastic feature, only reason one might lament over it, is because suddenly, you get an idea of the potential that full on multi-tracking in this format could bring. It’s 1010’s fault they provide such a good platform, the possibilities now become clear. I love those kind of faults.

But just being able to record six stereo stems at once, mixdown with fx, eq and compression, pick and choose from multiple takes and render down into one master (if you don’t want to go daw), that’s just fantastic for a mixer in this format.

Ah cool. Yeah the main thing for me I think is audio quality and hassle-free multitracking. But yeah now I’m looking more I can totally see that more features would be good, even just setting loops etc. Do you know if that’s planned for the future?

I’ve been looking at everything from the Model 1 to the SSL six to small Mackies but I’m thinking this one is the way to go.

Actually, as much as I can appreciate the Bluebox, the SSL SiX is my weapon of choice, as it were. With the multiple outputs from the Blackbox into the SiX, I want for nothing.

But the Bluebox is a fantastic option, all the same.

Haha yep sounds like a great way to go as well. I’m just really liking the idea of keeping a jam separate to the DAW then throwing the wavs into the DAW and keeping the hardware away from the computer! (Erm…except maybe some outboard)
