Yes, they are.

Wonderful. Thank you

Iā€™m looking at one of these now. Can you tell me the dimensions? Theyā€™re not included in the listing.

I recommend using a controller with its own power supply, or choosing it very carefully.

Many USB MIDI controllers draw more power from the Bluebox than it can provide.

DIN5 and powered is safe. (Faderfox)

Midi twister, launchontrol xl etc. are not safe.

Going to be self powered if needed and a retrokits rk006 in between. . Bluebox and Blackbox will be controlled together. Still working out the details but it might be a db4 replacement if it works out the way I have in mind.

Thanks for the tip :+1:t2:

Ah, the DB4 šŸ„² I loved the loopers.

Here is how I got the Bluebox to loop:

Intech Studio controllers work fine, as long as I donā€™t press play on the Blueboxā€¦

Intech is exactly what Iā€™ve ordered  awesome modules. Had no idea you could loop within bluebox. . Planning on getting the black box to do looping. Probably still will take that route as itā€™s quite flexible. Curious to see how you use the bluebox for that purpose though. Will check the video later. Thanks for sharing (edit: ahh using the delay, yeah  )

Db4 is still incredible, but too bulky for the new setup I have in mind.

The downside of looping on the Blackbox is that input sources are limited to either external input, or resampling OUT1. Internally, you canā€™t choose which pad to resample. You have to take all the audio that is routed to OUT1.
With the Bluebox delay setup, I can select which channel to loop.

Also on Blackbox, I sometimes experienced short audio dropouts when resampling while multiple pads were playing. This might be solved using a card with very fast read&write speeds. (using Sandisk Extreme A2, which is totally fine when doing playback only)

Sorry, the BlueBox can loop?!
I had no idea and I just looked for that in the manual but couldnā€™t find any mention.
You use the Delay FX for that?
Would you care to elaborate/give examples of settings?

The Bluebox delay can do timed loops, with a little bit of MIDI scripting and unorthodox audio routing.
A PureData patch on iOS or the Grid programmer on the Intech controllers will work.

I started describing the process somewhere, but didnā€™t finish writing the ā€œtutorialā€.
Will hopefully find the time to do that soon and also share the Pd patch and Grid profile.

That would be awesome!
I stumbled on the same limitations as you with looping on the BlackBox. Using the Blue the way you describe would enable me to drop the Black while offering more flexibility with looping inputs.
But Iā€™ll already start playing around with the delay as it is, to see what it can do in looping territory

Ah yeah. Only going to loop external input. Iā€™m going to set it up in a way that I can very easily determine what to send to Blackbox with the intech stuff. Basically I choose which source to send out of one of the outs of bluebox into the external in of Blackbox. Then have 4 pads dedicated to sampling that external input with dedicated buttons. So far no resampling is in my plan.

The delay looping is great but a bit too limited for what I want to do in a live performance and I also need that delay as a delay

That would be great. Does sound like a nice solution! Maybe not as limited as I think?

My heart jumped with excitement seeing so many new posts on this thread, thinking a firmware upgrade with great new features had been releasedā€¦

The minibay looks pretty cool, but for me it would be a better companion for the bluebox if the jacks where flipped (1/8" on the back and 1/4" on top)

I am currently rocking a standard patch at (w/ what feels like 100 adapters) and a launchcontrol xl combo

I wonder if the minibay is wired to work in the opposite direction?

When I bring my recordings into Live they donā€™t quite line up to the grid.
Beatstep Pro master set at 128bpm - MIDI out1 going to LXR02. MIDI out 2 going to Bluebox. Recording 20-30min jams. Auto-warp turned off in Live.

I need to set the BPM in Live to 128.01 to get the grid to line up with the recording. The recording is slightly faster, does any else have this trouble? It makes chopping and looping a chore. I canā€™t decide if itā€™s KSP or the BB. Thanks

Wow, I slept on Bluebox - it is exactly what I have been whinging about that (I did think) does not exist - a multitrack recorder with decent midi sync AND bar level punch-in/out. I kind of knew what it did from watching loopop demo and reading @circuitghost review, but did not realise it had those features and that they actually work well.

The operation is a wee bit fiddly, like I found Blackbox to be but I think with a suitably mapped midi controller, it could be really useful. Also probably gets better with use, only tried it for about an hour or two so far.

Quite pleasantly surprised by the eq and fx, serviceable enough for my needs, but not essential. The essential part is accurate midi synced recording, which on first tests seems to be great, midi clock seems to be tight with no obvious jitter.

I hope future updates bring a bit of audio editing, like fade in/out, some copy paste stuff, but even if not it is still a proper handy little device.

10/10 1010.

I got a Bluebox a few weeks back and itā€™s enabled me to get out of loop land and commit to longer pieces, dare I sayā€¦. ā€œSongsā€! Iā€™ve not recorded anything of note for years and this thing has got me back thinking about structure and finished pieces.

Iā€™m just using it with a Pro2 at the moment to force myself into a multitrack workflow and committing to an idea. Rock solid on midi with the Pro2 if I use din, not so much with usb as the clock on the Pro2 bounces around when the Bluebox is master and usb.

Itā€™s a thumbs up for meā€¦ the protective screen is coming off soon.

Once I have moved house I fully intend to get a bluebox and happy to hear so many positive reviews.
