Beautiful, congrats on the completion
I spoke too soon
My Hand Clap is just a noise tail without the offset cracks at the beginning. I didnāt notice in my haste because it just sounds a little muffled unless in isolation.
Mine:
Vs TR-909 service manual:
Iām missing my triple crack
Troubleshooting says I likely have a bad LM339. Iāll probably try to just replace all of the ICās in the hand clap section. I donāt want to spend days troubleshooting.
I wish I had the time I had when I was a kid
Okay! I traced down the problem tonight!
Clap is nice and crispy now š„¹
Nothing was making sense so I systematically traced the signals until they disappeared. It was between R224 & R223 which are supposed to be directly connected.
I pulled out the stereo microscope and saw that the trace ended less than a millimeter under the mask .
Scraped it away to confirm, yep. Plopped a jumper on there and turned the TM (trimmer) up and whaaalaaa, Crispy 909 clap!
I would like to point out that this wasnāt an error by Steda. Seems like it wasnāt fully protected when the PCB was etched at manufacturing.
I will now say that Iām actually (fingers crossed) 100% functional!
Just need to clean up the large amount of flux I added to troubleshoot and close it up
I got the Clap!
Lol had to say it
where is the sound demo?
Now youāve got it built Iāll deposit in your Paypal Ā£500 gbp for it
I havenāt had time yet unfortunately. Iām going to do a video/sound demo I think. Thanks for the friendly nudge though
Youād be surprised by how much energy 2 toddlers can devour in a day
Edit:
I have a confession to make: Iāve been recording it in a track Iām working on rather than making a demo
Boy do I have a deal for you! 50% off that price and Iāll send you a sample pack instead! Straight from a brand new 909, like itās the 80ās.
Haha! No man Iām happy for you getting this built. Looks absolutely amazing. Iām online now on a silly drunken shopping spree I have the Jomox Alpha Base in my basket, oh no what should I do?
A bit of overkill for me if I buy it as I just went modular BUTā¦ I could jam 24/7 on just the Alpha Bass for fun, hmmm Alpha Base or more modules that is the question
I think you should go over to your modular and make something that sounds even better than an Alpha Base.
Then when youāve had a nap and some ibuprofen you can listen how it went and go from there
Sometimes drunken shopping sprees work out. I got an ensoniq eps out of it once which I use all the time. Biggest regret was not buying an ASR10 for 200US in 2009.
Should have done shots instead of beer
