I honestly love these little moments where something that was there all along becomes apparent. These machines are so deep it is possible to know something and then forget it and have a eureka moment all over. At least my for my lovely disorganized brain.

The chain clears if you force a pattern chain manually while the sequencer is running - I think this is likely what you experienced. It always resets for me.
