A4 audio in question

I process external audio through the inputs of the A4. It happens that sometimes i’m convinced that the audio is coming through for example track 3, as I have set the oscillator type to audio input L, but when I mute the track the external audio is still heard.

Not being able to mute, or know where the external audio can be muted is quite frustrating. Also when I sequence a TD-3, for example on track 3, which sends the midi notes and monitors the input, the mentioned muting ‘problem’ seems to occur, allthough it’s more rare when the A4 is in this state.

How can I control the external audio properly? So i can use it without interruption live or in productions?

Elektron Mutes only Mute the sequencer - if you have a long/infinite note or long sustaining/releasing Amp envelope and have injected that Oscillator you’ll hear it - this is Elektron 101 - only the OT mutes sound on its audio tracks

Thanks, I always had the habit of tweaking the AMP envelope and length parameter when processing external audio. Your answer makes sense and I just tested it with only the sustain fully open, and it works.

What does the length parameter do in regards to external audio? And what are the right AMP settings, only sustain fully open?

And last question, what is Elketron 101?

it’s ‘101’ is a term for basics, ground rules stuff that should be established early on !

both inf Note len and Inf Release can produce a similar ‘open’ ‘VCA’ or if Notes are retriggered you can have a perpetually open envelope

Len influences the Gate, the release is post gate, so there are two ways to get a long ‘open’ (i.e. not closed and still sounding) VCA

you can get around this by using a performance macro to adjust track levels or whatever, if you want to work with a certain droning envelope profile and can’t rely on sequencer mutes

the A4 is a Swiss-army-knife of solutions

Allright cheers, didnt read the manual haha, dont like reading it, A4 is quite easy to control also. It’s after I come across a road block i start looking for answers, luckily the forums are here.

I would like to rely on sequencer mutes, that means amp envelope set to sustain fully open, and program the audio in on the step keys, as in 16ths with for example paired with the TD-3?

Are you aware, that you can route/hear the external audio in not only if you send it to an track oscillator, but also „monitor“ it via the fx track (amp page I think)?
