Is it something I can do: having MD play sound (trigged via audio in) using the microtiming of A4 CV out tracks?

Yes, you can do this, good times! But when sending CV, you should look into the section in the MD manual on drum triggers. The MD inputs aren’t just for audio, they accept triggers too.
You can even “listen” to the CV, but it’s super loud, be safe, don’t use headphones until you know what’s going on.
One thing that’s fun to do is use CV on one of the MD’s inputs and audio on another, also while routing some of the MD’s audio out to the A4! 
If you really want to get silly you can setup MIDI machines on the MD to send CCs to the A4 and things like that!
