A4 mk2 - Weird envelope issue [solved]

Hello, I just got a A4 mk2 second hand and I wonder if there is something wrong with my unit or if it’s just user error.

Please listen to the provided audio and help me! (Recorded straight to my audio interface)

I have a simple kick (4 on the floor) and a bass arp, two channels only.

When the kick plays solo it sounds fine, when the arp is unmuted (3 seconds in the clip) there is some weird “envelope click artifact” present.

I lower the volume completly on the arp track and the artifact is still audible. Then I mute the arp track again and the kick sounds normal again (around 14 seconds).

The really weird thing is that there is a reverb tail on the artifact yet there is no reverb on the kick track. There is reverb on the arp track and when I adjust the reverb level on the arp track I can hear there change even when it’s at volume 0.

What’s goin on?!

I’m on the latest firmware - 1.51C

Definitely sounds like a reverb thing rather than an envelope thing. Or maybe the delay sending to the reverb?

What happens if you replace the sound on your kick track with one of the presets? What about the arp?

If you hold down func and mix to get to poly config, whats that look like? I think you’d want all the boxes across the top to be unchecked.

Do you have any locks on any of the tracks? Maybe clear them out and enter your trigs again?

Any mod sources coming in? Mod wheel pitch bend or other CCs/CV?

Any performance macros going on? A quick way to disable them all is to press func + QPER to mute them. They’re muted when the QPER button is not illuminated.

Failing all that, what if you start a brand new project, build your kick and arp with presets, set up the reverb on the arp from scratch, then set up the arp. Are you getting the same tails on the kick? If so, at exactly which step do they appear?

This was it! Thanks alot for taking the time. I used a pre-existing pattern and went from there.

Before I found it the behaviour went away when the arppegiator was de-activated and when activated it on it came back.

Got me real confused for sure, again big thanks!
