A4 MkII, AR MkII - record midi from external keyboard and Overbridge?

Hey good peeps,

I am using AR Mk2 and A4 Mk2, with both connected to Studio One 5 Pro DAW via Overbridge, through Overhub.

My main midi controller at the moment is the NI KK S61 Mk2.

In this setup, I can play either the AR.2 or the A4.2 from the KK S61 - excellent!

But it won’t record midi in the Elektron units. I can record the midi notes in my DAW, and they play back just fine on the Elektron units, but I’d like to be able to use the S61 as a controller while inputting notes directly to the Elektron sequencers. Is this possible without connecting midi externally to the Elektrons?

Seems like it must be some simple user error, given that the Elektrons are definitely receiving midi from the S61 controller over the Overbridge USB cable…but only play, no record? Ideas?

Are you using auto channel or specific midi channels for the tracks? I think (from memory), there’s an option in the elektron midi settings: record on auto or track channel (toggle)
