Does the OT send clock and transport out of the midi thru port?
Midi in and out from my interface is connected to midi in and out on the OT
A4 is synced via usb, but i would also like to sync clock and transport from OT to A4. (If i dont feel like turning on the computer i can still have the OT in sync with the A4).
So question is if i can use midi thru on OT for this purpose?
Midi Thru only sends what is received at the Midi IN port.
For example, if you plug a keyboard into the OT Midi IN,
The OT Midi Thru transmits whatever keyboard data is going “IN.”
The OT sends nothing out of its Thru by itself.
The Midi OUT is used for that.
Im guessing you need to go.
OT out> A4 in
A4 out> Interface in
Interface out> OT in
Right, so if i go OT out > A4 in…
Will i still be able to use the OT sequencer to sequence software synths
without affecting the A4 ? I know i can set the A4 to not recieve midi notes, but will they be passed on to the midi out?
Yes this is doable, put a cable from the thru port of the A4 to the in of your computer, then set up so each track is sent to a different channel. The A4 will ignore midi data that isn’t on its channel (set it up in midi options) and will pass a copy of the whole thing to the thru port.
