Hahaha …jokes aside thats probably exactly how it will unfold…

Pick one to sell…i cant…
It would be easier to sell one of my children…

Anyone? 3 girls, 1 boy…well groomed…smoke free environment…a little rack rash (see pics), selling due to the fact i need more synths, open to trade korg xd or Elektron A4mkii…

You should better think the long run …

… well educated … excellent exams … high income … love daddy/mum … buy Moog Modular for daddy/mum …

I agree with this. Sound quality is important, but for me, if i dont have the ability to route plenty of modulations and create movement, then id rather just use a sampler.

Not saying that the minilogue xd cant create movement. But this is what the elektrons excel at.

You got those 4 lanes of Motion seqs. Not as much…but…combined with his Digitakt…He could plock the XD much even more via Midi.

You should sell me the Virus Snow (sydney based). Or maybe swap for my A4 mk1, but I’d struggle to let it go!

How is the A4 working for you?

Ugh I’m having the same dilemma now. I like the immediacy of the minilogue but obviously prefer elektron sequencing. Would I get by with sequencing the XD with a DT? Or just go full on elektron and get the A4? I already have a DT, DN and a blofeld

The A4mkii is great, I’m not using it anything like I thought I would, never for poly chords, always just 4 mono channels of percussive analog sounds, dual filtered basses and a smattering of melodic arps…it’s also very cinematic for anything ambient. But I have left the poly chords to my DN and Blofeld and Virus…the CV out has changed my Sub phatty into a different instrument with the electron sequencer controlling the ladder filter with p lockable rhythmic envelopes and LFOs, I never moved on a korg and am ok with that…I do control many other synths from the DT and it changes them completely, the Elektron sequencer is like a pencil sharpener…I often wish for a box that was just the electron sequencer x 8 with cv and midi just as a controller for other synths - like 1/4 of the Octatrack…

I also have a DN now and must say I’m preferring the sound pallet though…

Thanks! I actually decided to skip the minilogue xd and decided to go with a monologue and save up for the A4!

Initially I ended up with a store credit of €200 so I’ve been aching to spend that credit on something. I guess for €200 the monologue would cover grounds for basslines and such

The Monologue sounds better than the XD. And the XD is too simple for what it cost. I think you’ve made the right decision.

Just to offer an alternate viewpoint… having both a Monologue, MinilogueXD and having had an A4mkI (and I sold it to my best friend) I’m not sure I’d agree with that evaluation. If you are using the MiniXD like a Monologue (i.e. ignoring the legion of other features on the XD) then I think they’re really close in sound - sure I can imagine some people may prefer one over the other. But I think it is fine margins one way or t’other.

If i was trying to make a purchasing decision between them, the key thing I’d consider would be the Multi-Osc in the XD. The range and variety of oscillators means that you can go into a whole slew of digital territories the other two can’t even begin to imagine. That said, the depth of the A4 will take you into analogue territories that the two Korg’s can’t comprehend.

I would say the reason that I sold my pal the A4 was because he absolutely loved it and I’ve been much more enamoured with my DT/DN/MD/MNM. Adding the XD to that gives me a really nice polysynth that is switch on, play, sweet spot. That I can augment with the multi-osc. The advantages of Elektron sequencing etc I had in spades elsewhere.

Not sure that helps but at least it’s something to mull over.
