Just wondering if anyone has fun and success using their AK with an MPC?
Although I would loooove to have the Elektron RYTM, my budget might not allow it right now but would love to combine some samples/drums with my AK to free up some of the tracks and make things sound cooler (to my ears at least).
I am in the opposite position! I have an mpc1k that I like a lot but would like to add an a4 to it and sync them. I would love to hear others feedback on the combo
Why not? What’s the question here?
You can do lots and lots of drums on an MPC. While the drums are not as “dynamic analog” as on a RYTM, you have far more freedom regarding the amount of samples or drum kits being simultaneously available.
In my opinion, this should be a dream combo. If I weren’t focusing on iPad synths at the moment, I would get an A4 again to pair with my MPC 2500. It’s really hard to find a substitute for the A4.
Btw, why don’t you combine the AK with an iPad? Samplr app.
My friend has bought MPC1k (with JJOS) to his A4 and he really like this combo. He says that MPC1k allows him to work with samples “like” in Ableton and sound quality is great.
i used it and the combo works great. it syncs up perfectly. plus you can use the MPC pads to trigger drums from the A4 and even map the pad pressure to the A4.
I wouldn’t say sampling is as easy as in Ableton. Putting arrangements together can be a bit tedious since you are working in two different file systems.
For example I never figured out how to reliably copy a track on the MPC from one sequence to another. But the combination can still cover all your needs.
A general to MPC.
If you haven’t tried one already, do so. Very easy to wrap your head around and very flexible in use, as a sound source and as a sequencer for internal sounds and midi. The MPC goes well with most live and studio gear, I would say. I would buy it again, if it breaks.
I just bought a real cheap 2nd hand MPC Studio as a companion for my AR to give me more sample playback options… I will just close my laptop feels nice
Most of the others are out of my price range atm but if I like it I might buy a standalone model
The 2nd bloke in this video uses a MPC2k and I thought he made a lot of sense…
D!!
I have the MPC Live and the AK. They work well and sounds great together.
Nice one, watched that one a few times! Mr Beatnik explains the MPC sampling workflow very well in this video. As well as his love for “tea”.
I have to plug my little Mpc 500 to my A4 (and OT) …
Linear sequencer, all notes recorded with a keyboard, different lengths, velocity for each note, overdub, 48 midi tracks.
I don’t talk about possibilities with OT !
I use the MPC Live with an A4, match made in heaven. Synthesise drums onthe A4, sample them on the mpc.
One thing worth remembering, you can use the effects (and filter + overdrive) on the sounds from the Live and resample the result, then add them back in as extra layers.
Funtastic.
