Just bought a Digitone and Digitakt after stumbling upon them looking to downsize my audio workspace.
I’m transient so now that I’m moving, I’d like to keep my workspace as simple as possible. At one point, I used to DJ at college parties with a simple Numark DJ controller. I felt in a lot of instances that I was just a glorified jukebox so there began my exploration to making my own remixes, even live remixes. I was introduced to Ableton where I learned I could compose my own music and make remixes if I wanted to. I purchased Ableton and spent three years middling around with a Push and various equipment uncertain of what I wanted to do. Bought an electric guitar and audio interface, just to sell both months later after little to no use. Now that I’m moving, I really wanted focus on downsizing to a more mobile setup.
I bought an MPD 18 just to do some basic finger drumming and make drum beats and continue my journey being creative. That had a lot of issues with double taps, so I quickly began looking for solutions/alternatives. I saw the Digitakt first, and was intrigued with the idea of a drum computer/sampler/ but was wary since I felt a drum machine was “cheating”. I got over that and pulled the trigger. I started reading about the digitone and upon realizing the limitations and how capable the 'Tone and 'Takt are together, I purchased that next.
Sooooo. There is a learning curve of course. But upon diving in… these products are everything I wanted but didn’t know how much I needed to fulfill my musical needs. Here’s to a bright future
