I did all the standard troubleshooting and still getting the delay. It’s particularly noticeable against synced loops in Ableton. I’ve also gone back to not using OB. it’s reminded me why I got into hardware lol.
I’ve got a plug-in from InnerClock Systems called GridLock.
It’s for making the configuration of their Sync-Lock II easy as pie but you can use it for other stuff as well.
(I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think I had to use my SyncLock serial number to install the GridLock.)
To use it you setup your synth sequencer to play either 8ths or 16ths with a percussive sound and then you record to an audio track. Then you use the GridLock plug-in to see how tight the DAW and your synth are. What you end up with is an average offset measured in samples.
had the same problem aswell. My rytm was too late… Here is what i did so maybe its helpfull. Btw i dont use the mutirecording trough the rytm because i use the RME for that. (i need my other synths aswell
I set in the preferences of ableton the Rytm OUTPUT midi clock sync delay on to - (minus) x ms delay (x is the number you have to play around in order to get a good sync).
I’m using an AR and Ableton and recorded tracks come in early for me as well. Interesting that it was consistently late before 1.0 of Overbridge. I had to shift it back pre 1.0 and now I’m shifting things forward. Also noticed that even though you shift the first transient, it does not guarantee that the rest is in sync. So there seems to be some variance to it.
Also, I’m running UAD plugins and I’ve noticed that the sync gets kind of messed up when dropping some UAD plugins onto a track. At one point I had to reboot the AR and restart Ableton after doing so. Probably a CPU spike issue but just wanted to share on case there was something unique going on with UAD stuff and compensation.
This is my biggest concern. It’s one thing for the whole beat or pass to come in late. The easy fix would be to cut the first beat and align it to the marker; however, there seems to be variation in the rest of the beats which makes it hard to align anything.
I installed it to use with Logic, but Logic kept crashing so I uninstalled Overbridge and installed the Ableton version… that sorta worked but it would go out of sync quickly.
I tried a couple of recordings and the beats were not lignin up on the grid.
I wont be touching this software until Elektron has everything working properly.
I’d rather make music than fart around with a computer, just sayin.
Monitoring 4 x A4 tracks plus EFX through OB and they’re falling out of sync almost immediately with all my other gear. It’s impossible to use OB to record the individual A4 tracks with reliable clock sync.
After recording for 7 minutes… I grabbed a slice of a four bar loop, that was on the grid at about 5 minutes and it’s so out of sync with the first loop of the recording. I’m pretty much not able to use the A4 in my productions currently because of the lack of sync and clock swing that is occurring.
I’ve managed to tighten up my Ableton/OB sync by having it clock my TR-8. I’m not even sure how I’ve done it, but Ableton is still the master clock, meaning I can change the bpm in Ableton and all my outboard gear follows suit, but the actual clock is coming from the TR-8. And it’s tight as now and I’m super happy.
No wavering BPM on any gear and everything sits tight in the mix, happy days!
