Analog Four MK2 Voice Allocation EXT IN

Hi guys,

Can someone please clarify the voice allocation with using L/R EXT in. By inserting a trig for the incoming audio this uses a voice by default? i had always assumed as it is essentially just a THRU device it wouldn’t steal a voice… Can anyone elaborate on this??

Cheers

If you use External Input as the “waveform” for an oscillator then you are using one of the synth voices, presumably in order to put the external signal through the filters etc of the synth voice.

If you use the External Input(s) connected directly to the audio mixer (with the option of sending the signal to the chorus, delay, and reverb effects) then this will not use a synth voice.

Which are you trying to do?

the former :frowning:

When fx track is selected press osc1 button and you will be on a mixer page for the external input

yeah its just i want use of the filters too…

Yes! Use them, it’s worth it. You could try doing something tricky,
leave the amp envelope open,
Osc 1 ext L
Osc 2 waveform of choice
Use envelope page 2 to modulate the volume of osc 2
This should let you use the oscillator and ext in as sound sources that share the filter and amp pages
