A thread to discuss feature requests for the Analog Heat +FX … or rather the snappier AHFX which is our best concise search term for all platforms
Perhaps as often happens there’ll be some discovering the feature already exists … this is likely to be browsed by the Elektron team but it’s not a formal thread as such, it’s really to discuss wants and ideas … The official method for submitting a feature request to Elektron is to email: feature-request@elektron.se … there may or may not be a response to every submission sent there but most ideas floated here will likely get discussed
Note there is a feature request topic elsewhere for the original heats if you have landed here first
Don’t be asking for additional inputs etc, that unrealistic Future version suggestion can go in the topics we have for this kind of product development
A way to keep sub presets for individual blocks would be most welcome.
You have your favourite delay or compressor settings and you want to choose between a few
Where this admittedly gets tricky is that a user may have an ‘overall’ delay effect which relies on settings from a number of modulators.
But there still may be a way to add a sub-preset concept which gets a user a quick recall of a favoured block’s settings
Not thinking too hard here but from the flow menu we can already press yes to go to the block, maybe double yes or something plus yes or whatever feels natural can allow a selection between up to 8 starting points per block
A performance or macro page where a few settings can be tweaked simultaneously, perhaps to neatly offset drive gain and volume or to take care of balancing a compressor
A machines paradigm for each block where a compatible version can be linearly slotted in … i.e. e.g. swap in a different reverb flavour or swap a flanger for a chorus or trading BASS for a different kind of Block all together
I would really like to see an insert point in the fx chain for external fx and pedals. Utilising the analog ins and outs. So you could send the signal out through the 6.5 trs out to whatever filter, fuzz, rack mount reverbs or even modular fx etc… then back in through the 6.5 trs in…and the ability to drop that insert anywhere in the fx chain. Only really usable in OB as the hardware outs are utilised…but would open things up massively.
THIS!!! You nailed it.
It would be good to have a page that allows simultaneous access to the effect parameters of each effect.
Perhaps a performance page where the four knobs can be freely assigned (multiple times as well), similar to the Analog Four.
when you sellect a preset you have to push the 2 buttons again to load a other preset. if you want to load a other or want to skip and listen to them it takes a long time , because you have to push the two buttons any time. thats to long.
A clipping sighn on any fx on the flow page would be great. so you have not to go thru all fx in the flow overview.
A pro and a fun profile would great.
That means, all the big animations at the fx are not so nice. I would say you can delete the animations but have all 8 parameters at one page. thats are the pro profile, and the fun profile is the actual like now. Im not a fan of this new animations.
I didn’t see in the MIDI spec if there’s any way of either triggering an envelope (e.g. by note), or emulating a control voltage / input level (e.g. by cc), both would be cool!
Also having a midi gate/trig/cc in the mod matrix would be ace.
More performance-oriented features would be great. Macros have been mentioned. Reload shortcuts (without going into preset menu) would be perfect, flow+yes, heat+yes, fx+yes, so you can reload all or parts of the chain.
On other Elektron boxes, [Func] can be used during the patch selection process to keep the selection list visible, almost like an audition option, so instead of just pressing [Yes] to select the highlighted preset and thus closing the selection list, when you use {hold}[Func]+{tap}[Yes] you load the preset, but crucially retain the selection list so you can try another preset much quicker if desired
There’s no [Func] on the AHFX, but the settings [Cog] button is often utilised like one (for snapping values to integers etc)
So the FR is (if viable) either
{hold}[Cog]+{tap}[Yes]
or (preferably) re-utilsing timed presses in the UI, this one is an intuitive gesture and low impact if accidentally used, as unlike previous examples won’t leave a user confused
{tap}[Yes] - would load and close the selection list {hold}[Yes] - would load and retain the selection list
this could possibly be utilised retrospectively on other devices if there’s no issues
it’s just monitoring the release time of the ‘gated’ yes to decide if the list stays/goes
FR is a method to retain the selection list, as we can already do on other Func-y devices
