Sorry if this had been written already …
A extra sequencer track per track just for trigless trigs/p-locks.
Could be another way to get a second lfo in a way. Handy for slow evolving stuff on sounds for variance.
Have i missed any news on brightness control for the pads, leds and screen? Seems to have been discussed a few times in the past. The octatrack received this in a firmware update no?
Yeah it seems the Octatrak did get this update, thats very promising, i missed this. I’m very hopeful they can bring this to Rytm Mk2 along with filter keyboard tracking, which really makes creating rhythms a much quicker process and keeps with brightness high and bass low, something that has to be done per step currently.
These would be my two top requests.
Any news on a firmware update? I guess it’s the AR’s ‘turn’ and they got time now that the ST is out…
Still really hoping for samplestart finetuning more than anything.
Surprised to see this isn’t available on the mk2, I thought that would have been included in the sampling upgrades.
Firmware update would be much appreciated, some minor quality of life improvements would go a long way. I’ve contacted support about brightness adjustment, I find myself reluctant to use the Rytm in the studio at night because it is offensively, headache-inducingly bright and flashy compared to all my other gear.
That being said, still probably my favourite drum machine
It’s compressor GR meter, digital filter for samples and updated graphics for me. The lack of a proper gain reduction meter on the compressor and a simple filter for layering samples in particular, are glaring omissions that need to be address asap… The lower end boxes all got the red carpet treatment and we got radio silence. I love the AR’s sound but if they won’t make a significant firmware update soon I will have to sell it and look for something else…
I have one request and it’s inspired by the new poly end play
Can we have folders within the sample pool please ?
Eg, you could separate the 127 slots into groups
Say snares for example then select a snare from that folder and have the LFO select a different snare randomly ,
Thanks
That sounds wild. Hope we get it.
Hi, indeed this could be nice for ‘sample users’. I don’t wish to buy other gears just to access such possibility. Making me think of this :
I suggested a few month ago that we could choose between ‘chromatic’ or ‘sliced’ in any track menu. Then we could set a ‘start point’ value for the 12 individual pads while in ‘chromatic’ page.
In addition to a precise set point, the machine would drastically step-up imo.
I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Agree! That idea is similar to something we came up with before in this thread which we dubbed ‘12 variations mode’ or ‘pad locks’ where you can lock any parameter to any of the 12 pads, including samplestart, but also pitch etc. This would allow chopping, but also scale mode or 12 levels mode.
This would indeed be logical to add as a toggle mode of the chromatic mode, and would totally fit the current UI in my opinion!
Maybe we could produce a short video to explain how this could be operated? Or is such a thing already exists? Or maybe I’m being to bold?
Why wouldn’t I? The Digitone had a major update (second lfo, baseband filter, updated graphics and more) just a few months ago.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that Elektron will make those features available to their FLAGSHIP drum machine in the near future…
Besides, the compressor GR was already present on the MKI;)
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect either, however Elektron hasn’t produced a flagship device in almost a decade now. The last major OS upgrade was 4 years ago when they added the dual vco.
Sorry but i’d have to disagree. I think it is very reasonable to hope for an update on 1700+ $ flagship device. Digitone was released 5 years ago and received a major OS update recently. So there is hope!
Be positive
Now that I’m migrating some projects from my Digitakt to the ARMKII, I’ve discovered some new gripes:
- The sample selection dropdown is comparatively smaller on the AR so if your samples are named “Synth Pluck 1”, “Synth Pluck 2”, there’s a good chance that you will see “Synth plu” and rely on luck to select the proper one (even more so if you loaded them in no particular order).
- Related: when you select the sample on the Digitakt, the sample name appears on top of the screen, as opposed to not on the AR, so it’s easier to see the p-locked sample.
-2nd lfo (like Syntakt)
-filter keytracking (like Syntakt)
-fine simultaneous start and end point on sample - for granular (like Digitakt)
-12 “p-lock pad locks” or at least a sample slice page
-faster delay resolution for flanging etc
Do u think we’ll see any update now that syntakt is out?
I was honestly expecting something for superbooth/NAMM but I guess syntakt took all the devs!
When do u think AR becomes officially EOL? I guess the mk2 will prolong it but because everything seems to need to be mk1 compat, we’re working with 8 year old internals so maybe they are maxxed out on what it can do?
The 10 year anniversary of the analog four is this fall, so i expect that if a major update is coming, it will be released to coincide with the anniversary like they did with the octatrack a couple years back. Typically both of the analog flagships are updated at the same time, so thats just my guess. Hopefully…
it would be cool to be able to set a “machine” to midi which wouldn’t trigger the choke channels.
Would be nice to be able to have 8 audio + 4 midi running!
Gonna bump this one. Would be neat to be able to completely disable audio on a shared track and dedicate it exclusively to MIDI without choking its neighbor (cowbell track is an obvious candidate for this)
