AR Analog Rytm feature request thread

toggling track mute status via midi notes. the OT can do it, so why can’t the RYTM?

this could be as simple as while in mute mode, incoming midi notes on the auto-channel toggle each track’s mute status, instead of triggering each track. if necessary (maybe there’s a conflict there I’m not thinking of… users want to trigger each track while in mute mode maybe…?) this could be an option that needs to be set. or maybe it needs to be done on the performance channel, I don’t know. it’s got to be possible though.

this is actually a relatively infuriating limitation of almost all Elektron machines. I want to use their internal sequencers because they’re so well-designed. but while jamming with them, I have to have the machines within arms-reach at all times so I can change mute statuses. yes it can be changed via CC’s. but it’s a hell of a lot easier to fire notes at the machines than it is to set up CC’s on a midi controller, or be forced to use CC automation within a DAW (which is also far less “live”).

so yes… I would love this feature on all Elektron machines. but let’s start with the RYTM.

New ringing filter 808 type BD machine

MIDI machine with unlocked note range + all the goodies from the Syntakt one (One can dream )

Dear Elektron team.
Now that I have seen the beautiful visualizations of the analog machines on the Syntakt,
I would ask you to make them available on the Analog Rytm MK2 (because I think it wont be possible on the MK 1 screen) with a next upgrade.
The visual feedback is just much more pleasant and fun than just reading numerical values.

For those of you just joining who have for some reason been provoked to want a couple of features…

I hope that if they update the graphics on the AR, they mantain a “legacy view” or something like that, because on a live context I find more easy have a numerical value that an alien doing things

They could offer 2 different firmwares, but then rhey would have to maintain both going forward, which would add more work.

I think if there is a change, like the recent Digitakt/ Digitone LFO pages, it will be thr new norm going forward and will just require relearning

Don’t have my ARMKII yet but base/width filter for the sample section would be pretty massive. It’s the only thing I’m worried about giving up from the DT I just sold. Maybe a dedicated DADSR AMP envelope for the samples as well.

A second LFO per track would also be nice but I’d be super happy with the filter on the samples.

+1 on that. It looks so much better and easy to use. I feel Elektron is neglecting user who bought their flagship drum machine… Sad:(

Oh and and Elektron, please add back the GR meter for the compressor while you are at it. The weird threshold behavior (there is compression going on even with the value set to 0) and the lack of meeting make the AR compressor useless IMO.

A baseband filter for the sample layer please, like the DT.

A second LFO would be nice too but the above points are a must in my opinion.

Absolutely. I can tell you I gave up layering samples because of that reason alone… It’s really frustrating seeing their lower end boxes with this feature. C’mon Elektron give the AR so much needed love:)

100%

The “takts” are getting features left right and centre at the moment, and seems weird that the flagships are looking rather unexciting compared to the new kids on the block.
@Elektron show some love to the flagship models asap please.

Elektron should implement ability to bypass analog filter and amp circuit for samples playback

Just add digital sample playback machine on synth page, with option post/pre for distortion and compressor.
Also base-width digital filters and digital amp are very welcome, and of course TRU and NEIGBOR tracks should be able to choose output method: digital post/pre FX or into analog filter/amp

Finer/faster delay resolution, simultaneous start and end point on sample for granular, 2nd lfo, keytracking filter menu item like Syntakt

I would love to see some of the features from the newer boxes be ported to the rytm.

I have this box and I keep seeing real ways this machine could be so much better by just making very small usability changes.

Seems they keep adding features to the new boxes that the rytm users have been requesting for soooo long. 2nd LFO. Sidechaining, digital filter. Scale mode. Etc.

If the rytms DSP is so paltry it can’t handle what the smaller boxes do. Then I can’t see this continuing to b their flagship product. Feels like I made the wrong choice lol

What worried me was the realization that the AR’s engine is years old and that they will eventually reach a limit. It was very noticeable for me when scrolling through samples, it lagged hard when holding down or up, often jumping after letting my finger go. The Digitakt was a lot smoother.

No expert on the limits of computing but i feel like they should either leave it as is and eventually discontinue it or give it an UX / LFO update to prepare it for the next years

I’d like to have the option to set a longer countdown when switching between patterns or even to be able to have no countdown at all. The current 4 second window is unneccessarily restrictive, bears no relationship to the tempo and I don’t see what useful purpose it serves. It’s like when you were a kid and your mother would be like… “hurry up or I’ll close the door on you”… chill out, mum, will you! A countdown which counted to the end of the pattern would make more sense or the ability to be able to latch it open and just keep switching patterns with one finger if desired.

Do Elektron ever give out any indication as to whether they are working on updates or does it just surprise drop one day?

It’s always just dropped. I’ve never known them to mention a word about whether they’re going to update and with what.

I’ll also say I’ve never been disappointed.

Ah fair enough. Hopefully we get something soon then!
