does anybody know if theres a way to have a arp hold or latch function on the a4 ?
I think thereās none. however you could use the note length parameter or some external gear like mpk25.
I missed that feature as late as last night. That and sustain pedal support in general.
yeah i`m using the a4 with an external keyboard already.
i`d love to be able to hold down some notes and press a button or tap a pedal and the arp keeps on playing.
and the option that you have the arp playing and add more notes.
and individual velocities for the input notes
don`t get me wrong, i think the arp is great on the a4.
depending on what you want to accomplish, you can achieve this by just setting the sequence trigger to play your arpeggiated chord, setting the note length to the length of the pattern or higher. then you can hold the trigger button to modify your chord. all of this allows you to play with the programming and settings of the arpeggio plus the track sound while the arpeggio plays.
i use qunexus for that, it has hold function. the only downside that you also need midi expander, so it could work with a4
Yes, but that midi expander is very useful for lots of other gear as well and it was extremely cheap but also extremely well-made. Having all the cv/gate in/outs PLUS with adding the expander, having full midiā¦the sky is limit. I really love the expressiveness it allows and visual feedback.
However, it sure would be nice to be able to input after touch and velocity via external controller rather than being forced to tweak each stepā¦would be nice to be able to do both and have a choice.
i found this: http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/2468/eb-midihold
its not the ideal solution but it helps a bit
Was a hold option ever implemented ?
I canāt seem to find a hold option, without using the seq of course
No change there, I think theyāre fairly set on having the ARP be sequenced or held/auditioned manually - I donāt see it changing any time soon, but for sure itās a popular request
I canāt recall if Iāve previously sent this one in as a FR
But a potentially conflict-free and easy way to implement a general note-on latch could be as follows
- Play[hold] the notes on your A4/K and then press Yes(save) (note release on held keys is momentarily ignored)
- This will drone/sustain the notes and optionally play the ARP if on
- The way to disable the latch is to strike a key or for the sequencer to play a note (this precludes stacking an already launched ARP though, but a quick āoutā for latch is essential when thereās no led to show itās on)
It would certainly add flexibility
Landed on this thread after watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GzZRMQkVQg
At 3:40 I had the illusion the arp was being latched somehow - but I guess a trig was quickly punched in instead Oh wellā¦
The hold Button on the analog keys has a litle special implementation but works nice almost as a chord memory and hold. Its my third Day with the synth so im green
where to find the combo? :))
ā37 [HOLD] key holds all pressed KEYBOARD keys until
deactivated. Secondary function activates/deactivates
KEYBOARD transpose according to sequencer track
settings.ā I was thinking of the āHoldā in kombination with transpose and arpeggio it works ok if i press hold with the left hand as i press THE Keys not THE same logic as normal hold
and on the A4?
whereās that button or shortcut? wanna latch some notes
Aha, Iām sorry. The analog keys is my first and only elektron instrument and it has a dedicated hold buttonā:thinking:. I was a little confused about the way it worked first but now im happy. :). Iāve tried the sequencer with ālongā tones and transpose as arpeggio chord memory, but i really like the analog keys, .
this may be in the opposite direction regarding the ARP, but why when I flick on the LEG setting on the upper right corner of the ARP page does the held notes (with my fingers on the tiny keys of the A4 itself) sound fade out? what is that setting causing to happen with the sound being arpeggiated?
Maybe im misunderstanding it but I thought it should make the arpeggiated notes glide to one another, no?
thanks
I know what you mean, but donāt remember what caused thisā¦my guess would be amp envelope (try setting sustain all the way up, retriggering env or not shouldnāt matter).
