Bass synth sample chains optimal settings?

Whatup peeps

Putting together some bass synth sample chains and thinking what would be the best ways to go about it.

  1. 12 chromatic notes
  2. Just choosing 3-4 notes (and relying on tuning for in between notes) and using the saved space for 3 variants of the sound of each (different oscillator mix, etc)

Also, what length of the note have you guys found works best, for obvious reasons I don’t want super long samples. Thinking 2 seconds.

Any better ideas I haven’t mentioned?

I’d probably do quite short notes 1/16 or 1/8 but … possibly shorten / remove the amp envelope so you can dial it in on the device. … both for attach a release.
I haven’t used my rytm so I’d check what options it gives on sample playback.

I usually record at 120 / 60 bpm so it’s a little easier to dial in start positions
And set it up with 8 or 16 slots , a little wasteful if you go for 12 notes.

Finally … probably just find a nice bass tone from the engines available and avoid samples.

Thanks. Yeah i might just sample 2 octaves of c, f, a.

Forget how much his sampler works, been a while. Am i able to use hold in the amp to extend a short note?

And def planning on using the 2 vco, just eant to have 3-4 good roland, moog, korg variants.
