With RipCord from MyVolts I have powered MS from my phone’s USB-C with no issues!

so who’s got the longest lasting battery?

The one with the sun attached:

(It’s a 10-year old Goal Zero solar panel that keeps 4xAA rechargeables topped up, I’m sure the technology has moved on since then)

Here is my portable setup. Not sure how long it will run off of the battery pack yet.

Big thanks for everybody who contributed to this. I had my Samples for a year and was done waiting for the battery grip. Thanks to the information here i’ve succesfully bought the right products. Im from The Netherlands, so most of the links to product doesn’t work for me, so i have bought the following products.

Thanks everybody!

Powerbank: Xtorm Powerbank 20.000 mAh Power Delivery + Quick Charge - Coolblue - Voor 23.59u, morgen in huis
USB to power input cable: USB voedingskabel - 3.5 x 1.35mm - USB Voedingskabel, Spanning: 5 V, Aansluiting 1: USB A male, Aansluiting 2: 3.5x1.35mm male, 1.5 meter.

just got the lindy & effectively you got to cut a little of the plastic to fit in…but it works, not the better cable btw

99.9% of the time the un-modified Lindy works fine for me. But just occasionally a nudge will result in sudden power loss, so I will be trimming mine to be on the safe side.

Well, today’s the day boys! The battery handle is here, and i’m a little conflicted on getting it, but i’m not in flames over it. We already knew what we were getting really Power Handle BP-1 | Elektron

I would like more recommendations for smallest, longest lasting, power banks for the model series so if you have info please post it up???

I want to advise everyone to not to use AA or AAA batteries to power the unit as I have handmade myself a power unit with 6 AAA batteries that gave me 9VDC and I was plugging it to the side power input. The unit doesn’t normally recognize when the battery will die and every time power was interrupted instantly and if you will not save project or pattern - you loose it. MORE OVER - even if you save the pattern manually and power will be interrupted - you’ll loose pattern anyways. The only a moment Model Samples saves your work is when you power it OFF!. AND this is not as scary as what I had! I had power loss when batteries died as usually but this time I lost all projects that were saved and current projects also!!! I was disappointed, and decided to load projects that I saved on my PC in new format : msprj. Loaded those projects and got nothing!!! Only names of the projects came up with no sequencer data!!! I lost everything I did for the last year! Saved projects didn’t work even if I load them together with samples! I updated firmware several times, reset, clean reset my Model Samples but the problem remains. I tried to save new patterns and it saves them! It seems to work properly but not with old projects. And I have my projects also in old format saved - MS doesn’t see them at all! Send an enquiery to Elektron a week ago - no answer yet. Hope they will help.

sorry to hear this, I know how disappointing this can be. I hope Elektron is able to help you out in some way and thank you for the warning.

I have the problem sorted out. So power loss caused MS to reset completely and loose data. I have performed reset several times and it seems to work now and able to read projects that were saved on PC. But all that wasn’t backed up on PC - gone.

thank you for the update, like they say it’s better to have loved and lost than never loved at all … I have 4 hardrives full of material that I cannot recover, the hard drives failed but I can’t bring myself to get rid of them, been lugging them around for years lol, trust me I understand.

.did the 5v ripcord work then after all.
I’ve just got my m/s and hooked it up with a usb powerbank and a cable that fits in the rear socket but it powers up briefly then turns off within w couple of seconds. Any thoughts?

My ripcord is in the post so I’ll let you know.

Who’s still using an illicit power handle then huh?

Try it with a powered USB connection. If that works you need a battery with more amps.

No bud that doesn’t work either. Just the same powered up but shuts down immediately. Works fine with the included domestic power adapter.
I’ve ordered a myvolts ripcord overnight so let’s see what happens.
I already have a few ripcords but none are centre positive and I’ve no wa to revers the polarity so but the bullet last night and placed an order. Many thanks for the swift reply.

which cable do you have? all the ones I find are like a meter long
