Nah, while I do appreciate and love '77-'84 music, I think it wasn’t actually the best, but just an explosion of creativity and freedom from established musical norms. By the 90s, those things had fully developed and become available to more people than ever before, leading to the best decade in music.
Basically what started with the punk generation peaked in the 90s.
Because of this thread I finally gave a rea listen to Mouse on Mars and am totally hooked now! And just as I was in the middle of a listening slump… Thanks!
