Best platform for multi-monitor MIDI-triggered video playback?

I’ve got this urge to create a little MIDI-triggered video player that can play different video files across several small monitors.

I know that modern VJ software can do this, but it’s not really in my budget to sacrifice, say, a Mac Mini for this (or maybe it is if I buy used).

I want to use MIDI to play back very short video clips on small LCD monitors, maybe 4 or 5. So they don’t all have to be “1080p” resolution or whatever.

Any ideas for a cost-effective way to do this? Can an Arduino handle that much? Do I have to go Raspberry Pi?
