just found this guy and really fun videos, came here to check if he’s mentioned.

loved his LinnDrum video, what a cool machine, apparently they had song mode in '86 :astonished:

@alechko That’s awesome you found him! His channel is like a trip down memory lane when you hear all of those wonderfully aged noises being played! :older_man: I really wanted a Roland JD800 after watching him play one, and at the time I was looking at them, they were still being slept on. They were going for around $600 on ebay (even a long while after his video was uploaded). NOW THEY’RE OVER $2k. :disappointed:

This channel is pretty freakin consistent! Raw Elektron techno:

does this father and daughter know how cool the other is?

I knew there was a reason i never signed up for tiktok, LoL. All these stupid video of a thirst trap on IG seem like obvious ways to scam dudes out of money, it’s sad how easy it is to take advantage of a lonely dude.

Very Nice Murcia

Algorithms are designed first and foremost around “engagement” and time spent on any platform, alongside rapid “content” generation.

Easiest appeals to both of these are varieties of parasocial, and at base level “wow this person says they’re my friend!” or “wow this person is hotttt and I’d love to be in their orbit”, which can be value neutral, but the most successful persons at it rarely manage the parasocial well and in less abusive ways.

nice to see oora happy with his new environment

Alice has enlightened me on quite a few tricks of the trade. Only complaint is that she has a tendency to go a bit too quick sometimes. Solid output, and I respect the hustle.

The real deal. Wish he had a higher output, but dudes a full time touring performer and is nice enough to reveal some big tips that he’s learned over the years. Some really great tips.

I don’t even play the guitar. I mean I have one, but you know, who doesn’t. It just sits there in case I decide that today is the day I finally pick it up and learn to play “Smoke On the Water”. I love this channels honesty and insight. The message here is, use what sounds good to you, and I think I’ve lost sight of that early on. I’ve been able to nab some really sweet pedals for really low prices, and I’ve learned to reevaluate gear based upon the content of it’s character, and not how it looks on the outside (shit did I just loosely quote MLK?).

Love the Blind Test series, Daniel Wang’s insightful videos, Ask The Producer, Tech Talk, and B-Sides. They do a great job with rounding up some interesting peoples, and their record selections for the Bsides, and Blind Test are great.

Not a fan of the melodic performer they get to play on here, but the production value and locations are insane!

Non Music related, and this will vary taste why as some of these are well regarded by some, and not so well regarded by others.

This channel is something else. Mark Laita was once a photographer for corporate America, and decided to rent/buy a space near Skid Row in L.A., and interview it’s residents. It’s a who’s who of people who society has turned it’s back on. Addicts, prostitutes/sex workers, rape survivors, pimps, gang members, tricks, mobsters, hackers, veterans, transgenders, hitch-hikers, debt collectors, tattoo/street artist, bikers, wrongfully convicted, former cops, and just about everyone else in-between. It’s a gut punch, heart breaking, and eye opening. The channel is at it’s best when the interviewer just allows the guest tell their story. He’s not the greatest interviewer, and their are certainly quite a few people who despise him for one reason or another, but the stories he gets people to share are what makes it worth it. It’s what you would get if Studs Terkel was an amateur interviewer with a Youtube channel. I also watch these videos to help me remind myself where a lot of my students may be coming from. The day-today struggle they endear, and acts as a reminder that I should always be thankful that with everything else going on in their life, school is a safe place for them, and provides them with a few hours of solitude.

Let’s be real, some of their world event coverage is way better than that of the news conglomerates. They were covering Ukraine on a steady basis way before anyone else. Their ability to track down and interview cartels, and drug ring members is impressive. And their journalist and interviews are really impressive. Lot’s of brave reporters/journalist.

@plragde ‘s mention of Frap Tools and the Brenso oscillator in another thread sent me down a rabbit hole looking into some exciting-sounding stuff, and the Frap Tools channel also has some very nicely produced and explained tips and concepts for modular and sound design. Here (and now I finally understand it fully, proud to say), through-zero linear fm…

Giovanni’s videos are great, as are the small workshops he periodically runs online. Further insight into TZFM, wavefolding, phase modulation, and their relationships, can be found in the Instruō Neóni introductory video. It’s two hours long, but worth your time.
