This is an excellent channel for music theory type stuff:

I would probably skip 90% of the YouTubers mentioned after most of them showed to be complete sellouts for a piece of gear or attention. It’s even worse when they claim not to be biased. Some of these channels are fun to watch EG: Andertons can be fun but every device is good, perfect ,the best etc. so they’re basically your worst salesman for real honest advice. I also unsubscribed from anyone promoting Behringer and claiming to be a supporter of the synth community. At least some don’t claim to be unbiased such as Nick from Sonicstate (not Gaz) and Espen Kraft but honest YouTubers are very rare.

They’re basically door to door salesmen but with a superpower. They can walk through doors.

So apparently, Espen Kraft does not like guys like you, elektronauts. :joy:

EDIT. So, turns out, the guy is very mean and rude to it’s audience in the comments and calls them snowflakes :man_shrugging:t2: I guess that brain rot didn’t skip on this guy too…

pretty much 95% r/synthesizercirclejerk material.
and honestly I can’t recall when I’ve seen a setup here that looks like this, maybe here and there but most of the setups thread is pretty much opposite of it.

funny video though

This has been my regular looking forward to for a while, not music, but then they often aren’t

It’s interesting how the some music channels often seem more about trying to sell me stuff, when compared to other communities like some TTRPG who just play the game and have fun.

Can’t think of a music one I follow that i enjoy, oh wait!! this person has been uploading some techno records and I’ve been super impressed with their choices, many i have never heard of, often more obscure records/tracks but all quality.

For gaming Jack Frags his the spot every time.

Did he ever release his game? It’s still listed as coming soon on Steam, and no updates since September last year on his associated socials. I hope he’s ok!

Funny vid. I had forgotten about that guy. He’s basically moaning that music gear manufacturers aren’t focused on producing things for pro studio use so much these days, which is partly true (where have all the multitimbral synths gone?), but also who really wants lots of 19" rack mount units anyway? They were always an awkward format if you didn’t have a rack to house them, and the standard is unnecessary now things are easier to miniaturise (surface mount vs thru hole). Can’t wait until Elektron Cupholder MK1 comes out to see how mad he gets.

It’s snarky humour that’s all.

In reality, guy’s living in his own fantasy disneyland world like most of us do.

His disneyland is late 80s - early 90s rack mounted synths and gigantic keyboards weighing half a ton. He probably was a teenager without spare cash when they were all the rage. 30 years later, he finally has some $$$ to burn.

Everyone’s got to cope somehow.

It’s better than filling your house with funkopops I guess.

I’m not sure, he’s an enigma, I’m not a gamer but I hope it’s going well for him

Just came across this interview with Steve Porcaro. It’s for the real deal synth geeks here. Timestamp of when Steve shows off his “midi before midi” cv patch box. Really cool!
