And did that do any good ? I suspect he spends big money on promotion.

So many long videos with so little to say except that things were better in the old days.

He does have a point about the MIDI chord pack thing. I also like his “What makes this song great” series.

I think we all know that Rick is a master of the clickbait which is fine… that’s the name of the game these days. But the ‘what makes this song great’ series really rips my knitting. I must have watched about 10 of the things and he has never once explained what makes the song great. All he does is explain what the chords and melody are… which is cool. But doesn’t answer the question…

Maybe he’s just asking

Haha, yeah, I gave up on those videos too. Also, there was a brilliant video answer to Rick’s videos awhile back where he was complaining about takedowns for his what makes this song great series. Dude basically said, you’re selling your book at the end of the video, thus profiting off the artists featured in your videos, Rick, that’s why. Beato even commented on it so he definitely saw it but he obviously didn’t accept that as the reason.

Edit: here it is:

Thanks for the link. I think that guy’s take on the situation is pretty well considered and definitely aligns my experiences of corporate decision making - which is what that situation is about. Naturally, Rick’s ego doesn’t really want to accept that in the comments…

Hmm. The Undulations guy has started an ASMR side-channel. I found the trailer just irritating. Perhaps I am too tightly wound…

Great list (a lot of new names for me personally), thanks for posting!!

I know him (he replaced me in a band I quit back in 1996) and he’s not the nicest guy in the world. Worked with him a few times back in the day and we use to cross paths a bit. Was always kind of a dick to me for no reason. It’s funny to me that he’s never really truly written a song; his thing is he’ll play on a band’s record and somehow get a cowriting credit. Everything he touches seems to turn to gold and I’ve never been able to figure out how he pulls it off.
