Well, I guess the question is already on the title of the thread. So, can it?
Here’s a quick example what I’m thinking about:

Yeah, basically all I did for my first couple of weeks with the Digitone was EBM
Use unison of 2 or more, turn off operator reset (PHRT parameter on SYN2 page 2) and turn the HARM parameter to the sawtooth-ish wave, for a start. Use some chorus as well and there you go Not really putting the FM to good use, but it’s a good base sound if you want to start shaping it a bit.
Thanks! Could you perhaps give me some sound examples you’ve made?
This was the big question mark for me about getting Digitone.
I don’t think I saved any of it as it was just initial jams, but I’ll try to make some sounds tonight
Thanks, that’d be really nice.
Alright, I re-made that part of the song just because I wanted a challenge
Not quite the same, but not too bad! I’m sure it could be tweaked a bit more…
edit: I also finally learned how to use the “add notes” feature for this, it’s really nice!
Call the Ships to port will forever be one of my favourites. “Spin the wheel of fortune, or learn to navigate.”
Yeah, I’ll always have a soft spot for that style. Good memories from my goth club days
Haha, absolutely. Back in the day when Covenant, Apoptygma and VNV Nation used to rule the dance floors. It’s funny how the tables turned and everyone started hating the style in the mid-2000s.
goth clubs need a resurgence. that shit was great
They’re still around in Australia, they’re just not that great. I stopped going when the playlists started becoming super stale… e.g. ALWAYS Just One Fix or Jesus Built My Hotrod… or Voodoo People, Love Like Blood… surely goth club patrons are interested in hearing other songs?
Pretty close man! well done
Thanks! I think I’ll tweak those sounds a little and put them in a sound pack. Maybe even make a “goth classics” pack
i’d buy that without hesitation
I really want to try my hand at replicating this track actually…
I managed to get a close approximation of the drums on my MD last year before I sold it; it’d be quite a challenge to get that drum sound on the DN! As for the rest of the sounds, that should be a breeze
Oh wow, thank you so much! That was a really good aproximation. The lead sounds something so much out of a JP-8000 or somesuch, I would have not guessed it’s FM at all!
