Can / should we expect some machines of our own?

Hello. I dont have Digitone, but how would OPL3 differ from current synth engine? I would expect that DN could do these sounds already. Just curious.

Actually, you can make lo fi & dirty fm sounds on Digitone but it needs some tricks (detune the operator offsets, use modulators as LFOs, noisy fm with a LFO, etc…). With the Twisted Electrons Blastbeats for example (which use OPL3 chip), you have this gritty/lo fi FM vibe from the start.
So, a lo fi mode that emulates old fm cards on the DN should allow to get this kind of sound easily and could free the LFOs for other things.

I see. Thanks for info.

I’m looking forward to the Digitone getting machines like the Digitakt did…

I’m hoping for an Arthur Fonzarelli machine. So we can tweak different version of “Aaaayy”.

FONZ should fit on the DN screen nicely.

I was wondering the possibility of this as well. I know digitone is not the same as the other digis, but it would benefit from some machines in the box along with its current process for sound design. I’m thinking of machines that streamline the fm process. Drum specific machines, unison mono machines, poly chord machines. I know these are all possible on its own, but it might make it more user friendly in some applications.

I feel like; get a M:C if that’s what you want. Mechines on the Digitone seems like trying to make it paint by numbers.

They have machines, they are just called “sounds”

Exactly. Don’t tame the beast.

Best analogy of it

The concept of Machines extends the audience of digi devices…would be a good choice to put some after alg 8…maybe associated to Synth machines and not to Drums (dream would be having both).
However, what would definitely boost my love for DN further is the arpeggiator for MIDI tracks, and kinda of volume side chain as the ST’s FX track

Whether or not it’s machines, I feel an interesting update is coming for Digitone and the ones listed for around $500 in excellent condition on Reverb seem like the best deal in used music gear right now.

more algos plz

I think Digitone update is to be expected soon, as DT and ST got their substantial ones already. What I wish:

REALISTIC:

  1. Peak filter

  2. Some simple machines parallel to algorithms

NOT REALISTIC BUT SUPER NICE TO HAVE:

  1. Kits

  2. Wavetable synthesis

  3. Granular synthesis

Honestly, granular synthesis, retrig, and a comb filter option would all be super nice

Welcome to the forum! You’re right, a Comb filter would be pretty cool on the DN…

+1 for the comb and the retrig. Also, an FM drum machine is a fantastic idea.

Hmmm, yeah! Something like an 8 voice fm drum synth plus an analog hihat and 3 voices of analog mono synth. If only they would make that
