If you press play on the AR or A4 will Ableton start playing? Or is the sync still the other way around?
Thanks!

Yes? No? Maybe so?
AR: clock send on, Live: Input ports sync on (AR), upper left corner in Live, EXT-Button on…
I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure if you do this it will be sync over midi, as opposed to using elektron’s proprietary OB sync protocol.
As far as I can tell from playing with it, the transport using OB sync only works the other way (i.e… DAW=host, AR/A4/AK=slave)
Thanks. I’m out of town and the 1.0 release says sync saw to Elektron sequencer but I had a feeling that wasn’t the case. Just checking.

Yes, you are right imho, syncing Live as slave from AR would have made sense before OB was out (in particular setups).
Due to rock solid sync of die OB-plugin it makes no sense anymore to use Live as a slave, furthermore u need to downgrade the AR to non-.OB.
I also wish a lot that it was possible to start Ableton by using the Elektron transport buttons.
It’s the only thing left that I’m missing from OB.
I guess it’s a bit complicated with different hosts. It took while until Maschine finally had this feature.
The fact that OB sync only one way is a bit annoying for me as well : I have to change the way I connect the machines when I put the computer in the game, whereas otherwise I would just plug AR USB cable.
While waiting this to happen, maybe you can enslave Ableton to another gear ? That’s what I’ll do with the OT as mater, because OT is the Master, isn’t it ?
