Can you use a Machinedrum track as MIDI sequencer and drum machine simultaneously?

Hey -
Previous owner of a Machinedrum looking to possibly get back in the game - I forget what the situation is with sequencing external sources - is it that there are 16 channels of midi and 16 channels of drum tracks, or (what I think I remember) that you need to dedicate particular tracks to MIDI (i.e. they cannot be triggering internal sounds as well)?

not that Iā€™m aware of.
using a track for midi requires you to select a mid machine on the track, thus leaving no way to select another machine.
