Changing A4’s sounds using DT midi

How do I use the DT midi src page to control what sound is being played on a track.
Say for instance I want to sequence a sound a lock on for the A4 on a DT midi track, or I want to use the A4 as a sound module and select different sounds to audition from the DT.

I know you can use the src page on a midi track to change the sound on other instruments.

But I can’t get the a4 to react to these messages.

Do I have to use the auto channel or something? Can I only draw from the sound pool?

Thanks in advance!

The Digitakt’s MIDI tracks send MIDI Program Change (PC) messages using the PROG parameter. Most synths respond to MIDI PC messages by changing patch. However, the Analog Four (and Elektron’s other instruments that have sequencers) follow the behaviour suggested by the MIDI standard for sequencers in that they can change pattern in response to a MIDI PC message.

You can get the Analog Four to change pattern in response to a MIDI PC message by setting both PROG CH RECEIVE and PROGRAM CHANGE IN CHANNEL appropriately in the AF’s GLOBAL > MIDI CONFIG menus.

You cannot do this easily. You need to enter your sound locks on the Analog Four itself. You can instead change pattern to one that uses a Kit containing the sounds you want.

Thank you!

It might not be the workflow you are after, but the multimap mode seems to have a lot of possibilities for jumping around presets

I haven’t explored it too much yet, but it is possible to map the 128 Sounds from the Sound Pool to each note of the keyboard kind of quickly

Oh you are totally right that’s a great solution. Thank you!
