Hi, is there a way to set default universal BPM to something other than 120. Even if I manually change my patterns to 108, it keeps defaulting back to 120. I am playing with another person on Cycles and it is annoying that the BPM keeps changing. How do I lock it in so it doesn’t change during a performance? Thanks!
When you say “keeps defaulting back to 120” … you mean, at the point you create a new pattern, right ?
Yes! Every time I create new pattern. Even when I manually change it to something else and save project it still sometimes jumps back to 120.
That’s the way it works. BPM is stored as a setting on pattern (see section 5.2.2 in the manual). If you create a new pattern, it has nothing stored, so it defaults to 120 bpm.
To get round it, you could set up a pattern at the tempo you want (say as the last one on the bank A16/B16, whatever) and every time you want a new pattern, you copy your template at A16 or wherever you put it.
I manually went and set ALL the patterns to 108. Next time I’ll just do a 120 set!! lol
Thanks for your help
Weird that there is no global tempo setting.
Maybe you can use an external device to send the clock to your M:S
Don’t forget that you can copy/paste a Pattern to another slot while playing, then switch to the pasted pattern: save it and edit, and you’ll keep previous tempo.
I agree, I feel like there should be a global tempo setting, was not sure if I was missing something. Maybe worth investigating because setting each thing manually was a task! Good advice on the clock in
