I love the Rytm and have no complaints, but I feel like it’s too much for what I want to do. I mainly just use it for making and chaining together relatively simple drum patterns and use mostly Roland drum machine samples that I’ve loaded onto it. I love the sequencer and overall workflow and find it all very intuitive, but there’s so much depth that I’m just not really interested in going into and it feels like a bit of a waste.
Does the Model:Samples do the above things well / similarly to the Rytm? I basically want another Rytm but simpler + with less features.
I’ve watched some videos of the Samples and it looks like what I want but I want to run it by people before I pull the trigger. Thank you
I wouldn’t trade my RYTM for anything but if I where in your situation I’d look at the Digitakt for sure. I found the digi line to be similar enough in workflow and features to the larger boxes, personally I didn’t gel with the model line. I never tried the samples but I just could not get into the workflow of cycles compared to other Elektron boxes. The Digitakt is a joy to use:) just my two cents👍
Bear in mind Samples doesn’t have OB and may well never get it.
It’s certainly simple to use and very fast. You’re probably going to miss the FX though. The reverb on Samples is pretty nice as is the delay, but that’s all it has apart from what seems to be a clipper. It also isn’t AHR it’s just AR, but it feels tuned, so not just linear.
Depends on if you use things like the analog filter, the master compressor, choke groups, amp envelope, Overbridge, bigger pads, etc etc. You won’t have those with M:S. But it is an excellent unit. If you can afford to do so, I would pick up the M:S and directly compare the two before making a decision about which one you want to sell.
