Chase Bliss Audio MOOD

I’ve only had it for about a month or two and I love it. It’s not really a guitar pedal in the sense that I imagine those to be ‘set and forget’ since it’s at your feet while you’re playing (I always hated pedals when playing guitar to be honest). This pedal’s appeal is that it’s just little granular sampler/effects unit and it requires you to PLAY IT. So it’s great if you want that color in your sound and are willing to actually play it like an instrument. Do wish it was stereo, but so it goes. People looking for ‘the perfect thing’ are going to be looking a long time. I’ll just make music with what I have instead.

I’m not sure what you’re asking but changing the sample rate of a recording is going to change its pitch.

I’m more interested now with this than the blooper, but perhaps i’ll sell my Pigtronix Infinity Looper for one if it works out…

Who am i kidding, i need to commit to everything i’ve preordered and not think about any other purchases for the next few years.

So here’s a thing I made where there’s a lot of Mood going on, resampled stuff through the Blackbox. Almost all of the ambience and granular stuff you hear here, are from the Mood, sampled loops from my Prophet12 which I’ve run through the apricot and then recorded back.

Iove my MOOD. It’s strapped onto the output of my Mother-32 -> MOOD -> Moog MF Chorus -> Strymon TimeLine

pure ambient win

Here’s another one, this one’s got Mood smeared all over it (the gig I mentioned a few posts ago). I made a video as well.

I’ve had the Blooper for 2 days. It’s super inspiring! The quantized pitch modifier creates some really unexpected results after a bit of layering. It’s my first hands-on with anything from Chase Bliss.

I mostly ignored the MOOD, even though my oklahomies at OBNE are 1/3rd of the brains behind it… today changed that. I dug into a few too many MOOD videos. Why do I do this to myself? You folks here are the best/worst GASlighters.

The quantized master clock is hurting my head. The Hainbach demo, generating chords out of single tones, is the dealmaker. Saxophone demos incoming… as soon as it arrives!

I have to admit two things:

  1. might have ordered one of these
  2. never been so confused about a MIDI connection in my life. Can I just use a TRS cable to connect? 1/8 -> 1/4 TRS cable? (Assuming the MIDI sender is also using TRS MIDI)

Chase Bliss uses a weird choice for their MIDI input in order to also use that jack to accommodate a remote foot switch (that’s not MIDI).

It is not any sort of standard MIDI TRS. You can use their MIDI to special TRS box, or get a version from Disaster Area Designs (I have this one, because it’s switchable for the Meris style, other non-standard MIDI TRS).

Okay, thanks for the information! I wonder why there’s no schematics of what should go where — it’s not rocket science, and Chase Bliss seem like a pretty great operation, so they might, in line with their M.O., shed some light on their choices concerning the jack wiring…

  1. Attach a Chase Bliss Audio MIDIBox “Ring Active” port using a standard 1⁄4” TRS patch cable to the TAP/MIDI jack on your BlooperTM. The Midibox is not included with
    the BlooperTM.

^ in the Midi Manual. It’s not clear, but the key difference from the “standard” (engage TRS midi A and B debate!) is tip/ring… yeah. annoying. But, it is a “multi-jack” to work with a simple external on/off foot switch as well.

Okay, thank you so much. I’ve actually scoured the internet quite a bit searching for facts on this  this was a big help, now I gotta look into making cables…

I was super excited when I remembered the BeatStep Pro came with a midi to TRS adapter but no luck. Seems like there are some really interesting and complex things that can be done with midi implementation on this (and other CBA pedals).

Improvisation focused on the MOOD. Discovered the Slip mode on the OBNE side is basically a pitch shifting delay.

Thinking of moving the MOOD into one of the VFE Klein Bottle’s loops. Then I’d have more flexibility to run the MOOD output through an external reverb/delay when I want to.

I learned about the Slip mode in this video

Oof, I have one on order from PerfectCircuit but they’re just shipping all the Bloopers, I’m sure my lead time will be months from now.

Just get one of those too. Happened to me. I don’t feel bad about it.

Achhhh, i already have a Pigtronix Infinity Looper, I wonder if this might be more playable…

I wanted the MOOD for the integrated FX.

I wasn’t trying to replace my Boomerang III. I made the mistake of watching Knobs’s “Better Bloops” series, and the possibilities really got me. It’s a different animal than your standard looper.

Edit: I’m not trying to GASlight you… but… I’m not good for GAS right now.

Can anyone point me to a webstore in the EU that has this in stock? Thank you.

I’ve watched many videos of this thing, but I’m not really 100% about how the two channels interact.

Signal flow is Input->Left side->Right side, right?

Many videos mention that you’ll be able to bounce recordings from left to right and vice versa, ‘imprinting’ left side effects as you bounce. But that’s not really the case – as soon as you press the right side footwitch, the old loop stops playing and you only get the tail of, say, the reverb affecting the loop, right?

Maybe I’m missing something here or misinterpreting what people are saying. It’s a lot to take in and internalize, but this left-right-relationship is the only thing I feel like I’m missing some piece of the puzzle with.
