Hi! Just wanted to share some issues I have been experiencing with the M:S so far and wondering if anybody has the same problems.
Slight clicks or pops when adjusting main volume and listening through headphones. With each encoder step I hear a slight click.
Orange encoder (the one for Menu browsing) sometimes suddenly jumps between values when pressed. I don’t know if thats normal but it feels like a worn encoder. I had the M:S just for a month or so and it was brand new when I bought it.
Sudden shut down without any warning. It happened only once but I’m still worried. M:S was powered using a power bank through the side DC connector. I tried to do TEMP SAVE and the device shut down. I could turn it on again without problems. Hope it’s just a software glitch. Power bank had enough charge so it wasn’t battery related.
Sudden shut down with a “shutting down message” on the screen. Happened twice like 30 seconds after turning on the M:S. I was powering the device with an old iPad charger and a cable connected to the side DC connector on the M:S. Bad cable? Not enough current? Works fine with original Elektron wall adapter.
The printed text on the M:S seems a bit low quality. It is not very sharp and doesn’t look black, it’s more like dark grey. I’m thinking it’s a print defect. It is not that important for me though but curious if someone else has this cosmetic thing.
I’ve never had any of those issues 1st four issues. With #5, I accidentally erased the text of the face plate with rubbing alcohol and had to get a lay over for mine. So…yea, the printing isn’t great.
My model cycles shuts off randomly all the time. If you go on the Cycles side of the forum, there is a whole thread about it. It hasn’t happened with my model samples yet but they use the same component so if its f’d with one, it’ll happen with the other.
@richmisfortunes, shuts down suddenly without apparent cause? On the M:S i noticed that it shuts down when powered with my old iPad adapter (haven’t checked the output current of the adapter yet). With the Elektron adapter it works just fine. Also works ok with a power bank while it has more than 1/3 of it’s total charge capacity.
i’ve had the same problem when using a power bank instead of the included wall cable. i think it’s a result of using unofficial accessories. you can go into settings and lower LED brightness, and hopefully that will reduce sudden shut offs, i’ve had the same experience.
@claybornlord YES!!! That’s exactly what I ended up doing! After noticing that once the LED’s brightness is automatically reduced, there are no sudden shut downs. But while the LEDs are at their max brightness, the M:S kept shutting down when ‘rec’, ‘FUNC’ and ‘PATTERN’ buttons were pressed. So I decided to manually reduce the brightness and the problem disappeared!
