Is it possible to connect midi from keystep to digitone using only the usb cable?

No. Neither is a USB host.

Use a midi cable. The sync. is flawless.

Using a midi cable now, but it means I need to carry another power supply with me for the keystep…

Or a battery pack… get a small one or one for both and a 5v-12v converter… :smiley:
