If I was interested in controlling a Roland TR06, or a similar drum machine for that matter, I am wondering if I can sequence it on a digitakt midi channel without only being able to access individual drum tracks per channel on the digitakt. In other words, can I use one digitakt midi channel to sequence all of the drum sounds on the tr06?
You can.
I don’t have a 06, but it should be pretty much the same as the TR-09, or most other clones for that matter.
The sounds are usually on channel 10 by default, lower octaves (1 or 2) starting with C.
Just set on of your midi tracks to 10 and you should be good to go. Check the manual for MIDI CC options.
