Current sounds coming from your gear (Part 2)

Thanks! That’s solo DT.

I love this, great chopping.

Where are the samples from?

Got talking to some music pals about applying the concept of tie dye to music and hit on this idea of using the OT to create destruction loops. For anyone that hasn’t come across them before the general idea of a destruction loop is to run tape so that it degrades over time, with each play-through giving new and unique textures as part of the destruction - which can be fairly organic. Will definitely revisit the idea as I’ve got lots of plans for how to take it further. I’m sure the idea of doing this on the OT isn’t unique but it’s been fun exploring it for myself.

The OT is basically recording its own playback on a loop, rather than use REC3 I’m using the Cue out and AB inputs to introduce subtle flavour from the DAC’s/ADC’s, each time introducing a few layers of lofi to provide distortion, BBR and SSR - and I have LFO’s doing a few other things to help more with the analog side of the degredation.

@monquixote
No chopping of external sources involved.
It’s 100% original composition done with Kontakt Libraries and VST instruments.
Every single notes are done in the piano roll of Ableton.

The only samples are bits of a resampling of the whole track, going through Effectrix and then used as little weird stabs or “punctuation”.

Maybe that’s the Tape Mello-Fi from Arturia that gives the “sampled” feel but it’s a genuine composition.

Thanks anyway ! Your comment still works as a compliment i guess !!

@trytykee
Thanks a lot !
It’s so good to work with a decent configuration and focusing only on composition and not cpu management.
I will add the violin to “the band” pretty soon for more flavor.

Infected with the infamous virus for the 1st time, it kinda put me in a weird headspace with absolutely 0 will to create music or listen to it really for approx. 3 weeks. A persisting cough and sore throat are also not helping but I’m feeling better. Anyway, my first attempt at singing (mostly adlib) and creating something since I caught that thing.

It’s mostly guitar (/w violins, piano, horns) and…

Analog Rytm:

  • using the cowbell for the weird delayed pitch sounds coming after the 1st chorus (pitch automation with track probability set high to create something evolving)

  • toms are replaced with an impulse pinging the filter to create different notes, each with a 1% chance of being played.

AR is augmented with real fake drums mid-course.

not sure what to think about this one but hey, I’m happy to be willing to play with my gear anyway!

Dedicated Digitone day. Trying to fall back in love with my once favorite synth. Some mellow pattern on a lazy sunday.

Been sat at the microfreak for the entire weekend, I’m in complete love!

Tried a house jam in the hope those Ricky.T YouTube vids I always watch might have rubbed off a bit (not enough sadly…) ….

Thank you very much @killingtime & @Unifono!

Coming from you (your tracks & mixes are always so damn great!), it’s an honor!

When I start an idea with the guitar, as my hands are busy (duh), I need to use the DAW to arrange stuffs. This one started with guitar & Analog Rytm. I’m glad the sound seems not too bad because I played (well, mute/unmute) the AR live and didn’t process it at all. In fact, only the acoustic and my vocal take are EQ’ed, everything else is as is with a ton of reverb (can’t help it!) and happy to hear my one take for the vocal works out OK!
