How have you gone about setting up the Dark Trinity for use with Overbridge?
I’ve been driving both A4 and AR from the OT, and would really like to start/stop/sync/etc. everything from there, too, but it’d be great to be able to use Ableton tracks too.
Hey, I’m still experimenting with this myself, but I haven’t yet figured out a way to use OB and keep the OT as a hub. I will try to see if it’s possible tonight.
What I’m doing at the moment is to have the AR and A4 connected and synced to Ableton via OB. I then also have the audio from the OT routed to a track in Ableton, which also controls OT tempo and transport via midi.
I’ve found that routing the audio from the AR and A4 to Ableton through both the OT and OB causes problems, so I no longer route it through the OT. With this setup, although I have to start/stop from Ableton and I can’t use the OT to modulate the AR and A4, it works well enough for me.
Let us know if you find another way that works for you.
I’m just thinking out loud here, but wouldn’t it be possible to use the midi out from rytm or a4 to send clock to OT? Then just send the audio to your interface from OT? Could send audio from a4 and rytm to OT for sampling, but perhaps some strange stuff happens if you also send that audio to your interface straight away, timing etc, doubling. I suppose you could sample stuff coming out of your computer as well? Somehow?
I have playing around with the dark trinity, the way I have set it up:
A4 and AR sync’ed through USB to my DAW
OT sync’ed through midi to my AR
Audio:
Main outs AR, A4 and OT to my audio interface for zero latency monitoring
Audio in DAW and recording:
AR and A4 through plug in. I have monitoring in Live set to off
OT through audio interface ( audio channel ) and monitoring set to off
This allows me to play the dark trinity as normal, but I now can record all channels in my DAW.
I also have a out coming signal path from my audio interface to my OT so I can record loops on the fly
The only disadvantage is that you can not record the fx as a separate audio channel.
In my setup I also tried to connect the OT to my midi interface but for some reason I could not get that in sync with OB.
OB plugin can be used to slave the AR clock, but is this possible to slave Live clock on the AR ?
I still haven’t found the way, but this would get me (and @josker) rid of the problem…
