Digitakt + Digitone + Keystep Arturia (DT as a master)

Hi people, I’m interested to know how to correctly set my Digitakt + Digitone + Keystep.

This video shows how to connect properly DT to DN but doesn’t talk about Keystep connection. I want to keep the connection explained in the video (DT as a master) but adding the keystep to the DN. How do I achieve this ? I have read the forum and there are several responses but none leaving the DT as a master, like in the video connection.

Thanks in advance.

thanks for the suggested link but I cant find answers to what I’m asking there. All the answers are setting DN as master or the Keystep as master. I want to keep DT as a master, like in the video, if you can help me I would appreciate it.

Hi ive done this setup from Ivar, and ive connected my Keystep into DT, Midi out from keystep into midi in on DT. Then remember to run keystep on channel 10, the auto channel, set both white tabs on the back all up on Keystep so it runs the midi din, also setup midi on DT to channel 10 ( click midi A /9 on DT then under SRC set channel to 10 ) then you can play all 4 channels from DN from DT Midi A/9 with key step and DT is your master. (one thing I still haven’t figured out yet is how to use the Modwheel and pitch wheel this way, maybe someone could tell how to do that  )

man, thank so much. It was very helpful.

Two questions:

  1. What is SRC ?
  2. At the time of setting my keystep on channel 9 and the SRC on channel 10, the configuration that Ivar raise is not unconfigured?

I hope someone can help us with the use of pitch and modulation

  1. The button on your Digitakt named SRC

  2. Not sure what you mean, either set you’r keystep to the autochannel or the actual channel you want to control

  3. Pitch works, without issues for me, mod wheel doesn’t seem to affect the track at all

I’ve got this setup like this

DT midi out > Keystep midi in
KS midi out > DN midi in
DN midi thru > DT midi in

DT sends clock but doesn’t receive it and the KS soft thru is enabled. DN receives clock and can send it as well to other devices via its midi out

I can then select the auto channel of either the DT or DN from the KS to control it. Works well for me.

Is the best option I have heard. Question: for the KS to be in the soft thru option, the KS must be in sync in mode or midi mode ?

The dip switches on the KS should be set to MIDI. I did find that if I set them to USB, hooked the KS up to my DAW via USB, and changed the clock send/receive settings on the DT and DN, I could send clock from my DAW and make the KS the master. The KS will still pass MIDI thru its’ MIDI in/out from DT to DN. So if I make something I actually want to record it’s pretty versatile.
