Digitone algorithm 5 clarification

Hey, getting familiar with all the algorithms on the digitone, and noticed some ambiguity with algorithm 5’s diagram - is b1 modulating b2, is b2 modulating b1, or are they both modulating each other? Just curious, since the diagrams in the manual dont show direction of modulation so its unclear. Ty

Yes, this diagram is not unambiguous, but let me try a best guess …

I suppose Elektron tried to make things most uncomplicated … considering the fact
that the pair of B1/B2 parameters can only be changed simultaneously (frequency on “Synth” page 1 and level on “Synth” page 2; see manual pages 40ff).

Also considering that in all other diagrams B2 modulates B1, if there is a modulation between the two of them at all, I guess that algorithm 5 does the following:

  • C or A can be carrier
  • A can modulate C
  • B1 has feedback and can modulate A
  • B2 can modulate B1 and A simultaneously

But to be sure, we should try to use the “triangle” A-B1-B2 only and check with the particular level diagram on manual page 41 how both kick in. Maybe I find some time later to try it myself.

Yeah, that’s close to my educated guesses as well, b2 seems to always modulate b1. Still. It’d be nice to hear confirmation from someone from Elektron to clarify things, not super important but I’m just curious :stuck_out_tongue:
