If you like the music, follow me on yt - I’m on the verge of reaching 500 subs on my channel;)
Good vibe, good music!
Subscribed. You are now at 500. Hallelujah!
Thank you and thank you:) Knowing that someone is watching / listening is what gives the sense of purpose!
This track was made with my dgtn and dgtk and recorded in ableton for mixing
DN+SH01A
dat bass drum
Heavy.
Very nice. Sort of reminds me of an fm flavored early OPN.
Glad you enjoyed it! Funny you say that cause the friend who mastered it said it had an early opn feel. Guess his work really has impacted me, I esp got into Russian Mind when I was first diving into the catalogue. Thanks for listening!
Hi Nauts, Just put a new DN only techno jam on my YouTube - all sounds are coming straight out of the Digitone and are recorded into my Olympus LS-5. Some Mastering in Ozone and here we go.
Happy to hear what you think!
Really cool
Chill, melodic, and very fitting sounds. Catchy tune!
Thanks man!
Got another Digitone/Microgranny>MOOD EP I just released yesterday. Track 3 is DN/Stargazer. I’m all about these super small set ups that the DN makes possible by covering so much ground.
Cool - first video of yours I’ve seen and it’s super-impressive!
I wonder about your process for producing and performing something like this.
How many patterns are used to make a performance like this?
How do you deal with the fact that moving through the patterns and using them to create buildups and such changes them? Do you reload the project before each take of the performance? How many takes to make this video?
Similarly, how do you deal with the fact that the sounds are separate on each pattern? If you have an idea for an improvement to the timbre of the lead sound (for instance) after authoring more than one pattern, how do you replicate that improvement across all the patterns you need for the performance?
During the performance is your right hand doing a lot of FILL triggering?
Anyway, neat video and tune. Thanks for sharing.
Hey man, thanks for your feedback and questions - really appreciate that!
I recently made a video on my general approach on using the Digitone for standalone techno jams if you’re interested in that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYxzq8OBdQI&t=
But regarding your questions:
In this jam I used 6 patterns. I create build ups using specific patterns, that I only use for transitions (it’s in the video). In these patterns I use many step and parameter locks to be triggered in fill mode to create rises or falls and the control all function. All the jams are recorded in one take - I ususally practice them until I roughly know all the transitions and the way I want to go with the jam the rest is improvisation.
When building up the jam and moving on with the patterns I do a lot of finetuning of the sounds. If I made an improvement like in your example to a lead sound, I copy the sound (holding the related track + copy) and copy it to the other patterns the lead is used on. That way I have the improved sound on all the patterns in the performance. And yeah, I definitely use a lot of fill trigs with the right hand - love that function!
The other video you linked is also very good. I learned a lot.
It makes sense to me and I think I’ll approach the DN a little differently now.
Keep it up! Looking forward to more posts in this thread from you.
The track Qw1 on my album Qw is made with digitone only. The whole album has quite a lot of digitone and digitakt fed by a small modular setup.
why did you erased these tracks ? I loved them!
