Digitone feature requests!

I’d love to see wavetable synthesis :ok_hand:t2:
Especially if Elektron isn’t going to make a Digiwave.

Just generally asking:
Do Elektron employees read this thread?
Or is there another official place to ask for features?
Maybe it’s be worth collecting the best-of feature requests and send them over?

Who decides what’s best?

Anyone with programming knowledge who can answer me this?

Would it be possible to add LFO destinations for the AUDIO IN parameters?

Possible for the developers? Sure why not though it’s very unlikely to happen since very few people would need to do that. Maybe have a look at the CC list and see if you can do it via midi.

All right! I was thinking more in terms of physically possible. If there is anything internally making it impossible that is.

Surely i’m not the only one interested in using the DNs sequencer with parameter locked LFOs on the Audio Ins Pan and Volume etc? For sidechaining for example.

Edit: CCs with external gear is possible for sure. But then i can’t use the DNs seq.

I don’t mean to turn down your suggestion. I’m just starting to get a little more realistic regarding feature requests as I and others have posted so many of them here and only a few have made it.

EDIT:
I just noticed my request has no sense at all, because it can be done in the TRACK NOTE menu.
I haven’t used my Digitone enough. It would be great to have this feature also in Digitakt.

Hi!
I posted this in the Digitakt forum as well, because I guess the feature can be implemented in both machines.

When using Digitone, I find a bit frustrating that the chromatic mode only shows the keyboard layout from C to C. I always end up using Cmaj or Cmin scales because of the inconvenience of having to change octave for using another scale.

The fact that DT and DN don’t have a real keyboard (like A4 for example) makes it easy to transpose the keyboard layout to show for example F to F layout. Or E to E. You know what I mean. At the end… there are only two rows of keys lighten ON or lighten OFF to simulate a real piano keyboard.

I think this will make a lot easier to use scales different to C, because of the keys shown on the active octave.

What do you think?? I don’t see physical impediment on those two machines to be able to include this feature in future firmware updates.

I’m also hoping the global settings in the recent Digitakt update will be replicated in Digitone with the next update.

I would like it if they mapped 2 octaves worth of in scale notes onto the 16 buttons like lots of other machines. It doesn’t seem necessary to replicate a piano layout when you are not in a chromatic scale. I have layered so many model:samples stickers on my digitone buttons in a desperate attempt to reduce the brightness that I sometimes can’t see which buttons are lit anyway

So while I am here, please please please can we have brightness control?

Knob Sensitivity. Knob C is acting up, making it hard, sometimes, to select the correct duration. My workaround is to limit the number of voices per track, then select a duration larger than needed.

In general, I find the knob encoders to be too sensitive. I use MIDI tracks to cue page turns on PDF documents containing music notes (I’m a school music teacher), and I have to dial-in a specific CC number for each step in a song. Trying to hold knobs using isometric force and turning them in tiny increments…is tension-inducing. I personally would rather turn the knobs more per change in step. I suppose Elektron set the sensitivity of the knobs with the thought they’d be used for live sweeps, in which case you want a lot of steps in a small movement…but for the way I use the Digitone, not so good.

So my request is a setting to control knob sensitivity. Maybe a more subtle fix would be for the knob sensitivity / time to be non-linear, so when a knob is first turned, it reacts less, requiring a larger turn for the first step(s).

PLEASE Elektron! Add a way to select tracks when in MUTE mode. Will be a gamechanger for many of us!

This one always baffles me. While in track mode, I can hit Func+Track to mute/unmute, but in mute mode Func+Track just mutes/unmutes. Why not mirror the behavior to have it select the track? It’s always seemed a bit clunky to have to go in and out of mute mode to make param adjustments

It would be great if the LFO’s in Digitone (and Digitakt) could access BPM!
Also-- Song Mode, or ability to save pattern chains!
Thank you, Elektron, for such awesome instruments!!

Would love to see filter key tracking live somewhere more easily accessible than settings. the 2nd filter page would be nice, though I suppose it could then be confused as a setting for the base width filter.

I’ve suggested a few times.
The addition of wavetables for each operator is great.
One more LFO and each LFO on one page, and LPG as a new filter.

In addition to panning a stereo width control (plockable and lfo destination) as part of a sound setting or dual pan mode.

I wish we had as many pattern banks as the OT. I like to use 1 bank per song, but the DN and DT only have 8. Boo!
