A feature for either digi box:
A global ‘performance’ page where you can assign macros to each encoder to behave similar to OT’s crossfader. Multiple parameters across different tracks could be assigned to a single encoder. That page should be copy/paste-able.
I’d dig it
You’re not the first one I read ranting about the lack of kits. There’s something I always wandered but never asked : how a kit function would be different than copy/pasting a pattern with your “base sounds” load up to it ?
Because in a live context I am modifying that ‘base’ sound as the track is playing, and by switching patterns to get to a new sequence I lose all those modifications I’ve been making.
Got it, thanks for the explaination.
Indeed, that’s not cool.
As I’ve said here before about kits:
This feature would be useful I believe.
No real need for kits that load 4 sounds into the synth.
I agree completely, kits as they exist on other Elektron devices are not required. I only mentioned them because that’s how Elektron managed this feature up until the Digi boxes as far as I am aware.
I guess Elektron want’s you to need the big boy boxes
Well then I’ll get gear from a different brand, no fuss.
That’s not the only gripe I have with the Digitone, the lack of something akin to Korg’s active step being another major one. I understand plocking is a very well-thought sequencing tool but it doesn’t help when the rest of the sequencer is so inadequate in a live/jam context.
What does it do and how is that much better in a live situation?
Thanks. Can’t you just set the track length in the Digitone’s PAGE setting?
Not the same but still you can get similar odd number track lengths.
Can’t see how this can be a dealbreaker.
It’s not the same at all. With what Korg call active step you can add the disabled step back at anytime, it’s not just a matter of sequence length. As far as I know Digitone doesn’t even let me mute steps instantly, and that doesn’t suit me. That’s all there is to it, I’m not trying to argue it’s bad gear, but as it is it doesn’t suit me because basically you need to set everything in advance and the live part of the Digi boxes is just chaining patterns or making a drone evolve over a single pattern.
In rec mode you can disable any step you want and reload your ‘home’ pattern any time you want. That doesn’t sound to me as a real limitation on the DN.
Forget who previously mentioned it, but sounds, mixer, effects, setting per bank would be amazing.
Digitakt just got something like that in 1.3, global settings per project.
Having separate fx sends for left / right channel would be useful. Global midi track settings would be helpful too.
Also in Digitakt 1.3 I’m really hoping that feature makes it to Digitone soon.
That’s a good point but it’s not quite the same. Being able to disable and re-enable individual steps is a fantastic way to quickly play around with patterns be it live or in the studio. It would be a cool feature. It would fit right in as one of the OT’s trig modes. Actually, could you abuse lock trigs to achive this? Just convert a normal trig to a lock trig then back again?
Confirmed. Press [FUNC] + [TRIG] on the trig you want to “mute” then push [TRIG] to bring it back. P-locks will still fire on those steps of course.
On OT you can use [TRIG] + [NO] to turn a sample trig into a trigless trig to achieve a similar effect.
Idea: they could add a [TRIG] + [NO] shortcut on DN to mute an individual step to give @b00 exactly what he’s asking for.
Guys, i would like to change track when i’m in mute mode.
On the digitakt is possibile by pressing TRK and track but on digitone?
