A weird oversight I agree.
kits can save modified sounds so you can tweak a sound from the +Drive, save it in a kit. the +Drive sound wonāt be changed. Then a kit could store FX and global settings.
I like to create a pattern on the A4 then switch randomly the kit, you can get really fun stuffs.
If a kit could store the sound pool too, it would be really useful to create ādrumā kits as the DN is really good for that and changing kits on a beat is always fun.
if the DN could get a performance mode (and in order to change the mute/unmute mode that would be a good idea), kits would also store the performance settings.
But I have to say that the DN is really easy to grasp as is so kits may add a layer of confusion. A4 kits are a bit complex. They could find a middle ground I guess.
More than sound kitsā¦ I want MIDI kits though haha
A performance mode would be so helpful.
the black keys = mute/unmute all the tracks (synth and MIDI)
the white keys = switch tracks
a mixer view for the 4 synth engines and global send fx would be displayed by default.
if you switch tracks and manipulate a sound, func+ trig to go back to the mixer view.
For a while now Iāve been continually setting VAL7
to CC7 and using it to mix the levels of external synths. But itās annoying to have to keep adding.
When weāre using the MIDI tracks, the Level/Data knob does nothing. Could we just have it always mapped to CC7 and automatable, freeing up both the VAL slot thatās required to do this now and also freeing me from the obligation to do it on every track for the rest of time?
headroom control!
resonance (and drive!) on base width filter!
The lack of a kit option is such a huge handicap for the DN. Iām working on a live set now and every time I tweak a sound in one pattern that is also in another, I have to remember to go and copy the new settings to the other patterns. Itās such a hassle!
i know ive probably said it before but plockable arp
I feel you. I nake a lot of patterns/songs on the couch with headphones. Quite certain they sound nice. Later hooked up to a speaker environment jamming along with other instruments and i find out that a lot of tiny tweaks to a pattern are needed and then i realize i have to copy/paste every (sub) page back and forth to all patterns which is quite a hassle.
Change patterns from the scale menu instead of having to enter exit enter exit for each pattern,
One of the things the OT does the others canāt
Euclidean arp mode would be lovely
Parameter lockable arp is a really powerful and fun feature
This.
I do not know if everyone uses the DN as a standalone live synth. For those who do though, this can be a set back:
Very simple use case: you want to have a 3 pattern sequence and want to build up the synth sound on track 1 so that it slowly evolves throughout the whole 3 pattern sequence. The issue is that it will reset it on every pattern load. Additionally, there are cases where you want this to happen. All in all the current sequencer is great (the main missing piece is the Midi Arp of course) but it does seem to limit one to 1, or very few, patterns during live performances.
i know, only owned a monomachine briefly but the flexibility of the arp was one of my favourite things about it. something similar on the DN would make me so happy
Guysā¦ setup: digitone&digitakt
I control mute/unmute of The digitone from The digitakt.
what about pattern mute?
I think That isnāt possible to control pattern mute of The digitone from The digitaktā¦ it could be greatā¦
As this is a mammoth thread, Iām sure these will have been mentioned already, but +1 for the following features, please:
- retrigs/rolls,
- p-lockable arp settings
- more LFO destinations (specifically including arp settings)
- more LFOs!
- also any chance of including a compressor would be absolutely ace.
Thanks, Elektron chaps.
this would be so cool
I wonder how the input page would look on the DN, if it gets a similar update to DT 1.3.
Thereās not enough room for the 3 effects on one page, if the L and R inputs were able to be routed independently. So it would be nice to have the fx sends on one page with the master overdrive and a second page with the input levels and panning for L and R on the top row, while the bottom row would have track levels for the internal synth tracks (similar to the mixer page on the DT).
The independent effects control would be so lovely - could finally get rid of my Analog Four as I mostly use it for processing two external signals these days. Fingers crossed.
You canāt plock the arp on a MM though. Only Octatrack has this (and only on midi chan) as far as I am aware.
Though I do love the sid style arps you can do on MM if you unlatch the amp and filter.
my bad- i recall it being hugely more flexible than the DN arp.- kind of like a sequencer within a sequencer, if i remember the description of it at at the time. i have one or two tracks i made when i had it solely using the arp for melody duties and its definitely doing complex rhythmical stuff that wouldnt be possible on the DNās arp.
