Digitone: I didn't understand midi track channel assignment

Hi, I’d like to understand why I have, in order to send midi notes to my external drum machine from a midi track, to set both these parameters:

  • track midi channel in general midi config
  • midi channel on the syn1 section of the midi track

I expected the midi channel assigned to the track to make it work, but the second setting is needed as well.

Why?

This one is for incoming midi, and I don’t think it should be needed for controlling your drum machine.
