Digitone (Keys) Persistent MIDI Channels

I would like my Digitone Keys to be my only keyboard in the studio and to control a few other boxes (inc. Analog 4). In the MIDI setup you can have diff MIDI tracks go to diff channels, so can sequence everything from one place like a KeyStep or something. But those MIDI settings are saved per pattern, so if you change the pattern you lose what channel is what in MIDI.

The keyboard has global settings to transmit MIDI on a fixed single channel, which you can change in global settings, but there isn’t a way that I can see to quickly switch between targeting different external boxes.

Is there some way you can have your MIDI channel settings persists / not be linked to a pattern. Is it possible to set those channel settings via MIDI even, so you could target the DNK with a MIDI clip to set them whenever you needed them.

Digitone Keys could make a really lovely main controller keyboard, but just needs to be a little more like the Keystep Pro etc. Guess same would apply to Digitakt for MIDI control also.

Any ideas for graceful workarounds?

You can use up to 8 slots in the MIDI ext menu, each one can have a different MIDI channel, you can switch between them pretty easily (although not using MIDI, I think)

Ok yep, that looks like it’ll work well for targeting a particular external box and playing it - but for actually sequencing apps etc. the MIDI is always pattern-linked?

Looking at it another way perhaps - is there a way you can update all of the settings in all of your presets to match? So if I got the 4x MIDI tracks setup correctly on a given pattern, is there some way the patches saved in memory can all be updated to share those settings? And for any new patterns to inherit them by default - that make sense?

Essentially some kind of default setting update. Would be a nice feature applicable to lots of machines really. Maybe someone can decipher how patches are stored and make a program to update them?

It can’t do that, I’m afraid, the MIDI settings In the sequencer are saved with the pattern (it’s the same on the Digitakt).
